The water-well
There is near the houses a deep well
you can´t stick a bucket on a rope, much ropes were needed.
They used to hire a man usually the village idiot
to spend his life hauling up buckets of water.
Villagers believed the water came from the Yanjing river in China.
A man who had gone to school disagreed; it is a deep
underground river, he said. For this, he was disliked.
One day he fell down the well, but since it was not
man made and smooth a big stone sticking out saved him
from falling all the way down.

fantasy of childhood
The Fantasy of Childhood
There was a tiny house near the main house built I think to house the elderly, but ended up being a place for old furniture, bits, and bobs.
There was a loft where we kids sat, made grand plans
of great daring, mostly in Africa.
Sometimes with the help of a few crates, we made a ship and set sail, Naturally, my friend whose mother worked in a cake shop and brought us day-old cakes, was the ship's captain.
The engineer, whose father had a shop that sold second
thing like shoes, trousers, and whatever, he, the father,

Monsters of My Deep
Thunder's belly rumbles across a gun metal sky.
The world must sense the storm between you and I.
Rain.
Soft wet static sound.
Dampening the fibers of sadness.
Is there ever really an answer to be found?
Darker thoughts naturally emerge.
The tide at the shore of our wounds is low tonight.
The soaked moon looks fallen snow white.
And there you are, fallen, lifeless.
Lips purple blue to never speak the truth.
Lost in a sea of me, you drowned.
Among the monsters of my deep blues.

Dragon in the fog
In the haze of the fog, my heart skips a beat,
As the dragon descends with thunderous heat.
Its jaws snap open, devouring my friend,
A gruesome sight, where all nightmares blend.
His screams silenced, swallowed by the beast,
My soul trembles, consumed by grief unleashed.
I stand frozen, paralyzed by fear's might,
Witnessing a horror that extinguishes light.
The dragon's teeth tear through flesh and bone,
A macabre feast, in this desolate zone.
I gasp for breath, tears blur my sight,
Helpless against this monstrous blight. ...

when fractures appear; when the past and the future merge.
The authorities were looking for a sunken U-boat using underwater drones
they found many things
A brig, sunk in a storm a luminosity of a lone figure looking up and smiling
before turning into unseen dust.
A German U-boat surrendered, waving a white cloth but such was the hatred
the boat was sunk anyway
They found the submarine had a design flaw when diving too steep an angle
the sub could not rectify...

Crisis Averted
Sitting atop my throne
pondering the soap scum
encrusted tub
When I spy, uncloaked
against the whiteish porcelain,
a squirming , amoeba
dolphin colored thing.
What kind of fledgling monster could this be?
Prone to risk aversion,
opting to drown
the perplexing invader
before it grew Texas-sized.
Stubborn bugger wouldn’t deign
to go down the drain.
Courage mustered
grabbing the alien with a tissue.
Cautiously unbundling
the mysterious breed.
Identifying the infant, ominous beast
as the innocuous hull...

When I was a kid, I remember loving my dad.
He was a firefighter,
A superhero who was invincible, and loved by everyone.
Then things changed.
Invisible forces that I couldn’t comprehend as a kid.
All I saw was mom getting angrier,
Less food in the pantry,
And dad, once or twice a month.
More time with a babysitter, with grandma,
Less time with mom,
Even less with dad.
The last time I saw him he had long hair, I think.
We were at Target, in the early heat of May.
My birthday was coming up.
