A Lullaby for Inner Demons
sleep little demons
sleep
lay your mischief down and rest
save your anger for tomorrow
slumber little imps
slumber
people can be so unkind
the world revolving around their need
dream little devils
dream
why do we worship so much greed
save your mayhem tomorrow
doze my gremlins
doze
we can burn the world when you wake
warming our toes on society's blaze
rest little imps
rest
blowing up Wall Street sounds so sweet
and the howling of corporate greed
sleep my monsters
sleep
dream of...

(king oskar sardiner)
A Brisling (King Oscar sardines)
I opened a tin of sardines in olive oil for supper
Headless and nicely packed, except for one
that had a head and was alive.
I put the live one in a glass jar; the others looked
so dead I could not eat them, put the tin back
into the fridge
My little King Oscar sardine grew and was too
big for a jar, I had fed it bread crumbs,
real home
baked with butter.
Suddenly, there were many cats in the yard the adventurous cats
tried to find an open window
I took my sardine to an empty lake. ...

Cocooned In Silk
One wild and wintry winter
He ventured to the wood
Guided only by the eerie moonlight
As he reached the spot, where a monster once stood
He called out "Oh monster!"
"Come to me forthwith"
"I wish to make a deal with you"
"That one day you may'st forgive"
He waited upon a mossy bank
Surrounded by frozen leaves
And within a moment of minutes
A loud crunching could be perceived
As he beckoned it even closer
He began to perceive its size
As wide as a felled oak tree ...

My Mind's Hernia
In my words the human soul
no pretense to my mind's hernia
unraveling darkness that lingers
like threads as I surrender
to the teeth on my pillow
and a penny for the old fool
waiting for my pound of flesh
deboning my misery
kicking seance beneath the table...
no pretense to my mind's hernia

Hero, Monster or God
"Mythology can be defined as the sacred history of humankind. "
- Gerald Hausman
Peggysoarus
As silvered wings
shrug off the gale,
night descends long
her spectre pale.
High above it all,
soaring in the mists;
a soul gallops untethered
in a heavenly tryst.
To feel her heart beat
is to flutter great wings
and drift into sleep
as moondust she brings.
A creature of myth ...

Broken Camera
I don't know what's wrong
point and click
click, click, click
and nothing happens
zilch, nada, nyet
I like taking photographs of people
doesn't matter really who
i want to capture some spark
a little bit of the divine
but this camera's broken
and refuses to see
as if
the people just disappear
along with their hopes and dreams
with no substance
or opinions of their own
existing in time
and two dimensional space
maybe my camera's right
these people aren't really here
cardboard cutout forms ...

The Minotaur
The Queen of Crete's bull-headed lad
thought the rumour a load of bull,
'bout a wild bull... being his dad?
the Queen of Crete's bull-headed lad,
saw red, stomped and snorted, got mad,
felt the labyrinth's peaceful pull,

clors and things
Color and things
years ago, when ships looked elegant and tasteful
before ships became barges with stacked containers
when saying, a boat rides the waves like a swan.
it was not considered an over-the-top expression
It was on an elegant vessel, and her slim, long lines were
feast for discerning an eye.
She was also a ship delivering frozen food
deliver an assignment of yogurt from Rotterdam to Istanbul when the Mediterranean sweltered bathers burnt to a crisp the cabin on our ship
was cooling and gave a cozy ambiance
When evening...

A Secret Word
when the world is quiet it gives back if you know the magic word
The word is whispers
On the breeze while first snows
Sprinkle once green grass,
Now the earth is white,
Leaves are like angel flakes
Adorned in ice robes,
The wind bares the word
Of the ice giant Jotun,
Speaking "wolf" to moon,
When the wolf howls
He causes access to stars,
Twinkling your wishes.

AI The Flower Girl
I was telling someone the other day
As we looked over a pond in the local park
Appreciating the beauty of the water lillies
And the magical dragonflies
And i told her
That this reminded me
Of a setting in Frankenstein
Of a scene by a river
Where Frankenstein's monster
Meets a young girl
Who is totally unafraid of him
The monster
Seems to appreciate the nature around them
And when the girl throws a flower
Into the flowing river by them
The monster
Seeing the girl as another flower
Picks her up
And throws...

As Darkness Falls
As I walk the path towards home,
daylight begins to fade,
dusk starts creeping in,
my decision not yet made.
I’ve been given an ultimatum,
of which I cannot decide,
become a powerful witch,
or leave those powers behind.
So many questions unanswered,
indecision fills my head,
will it be a witch’s life for me,
or an ordinary human instead.

Impenetrable Membranes
An October morning is hung with a thick haunting fog.
There are stories of unmentioned entities, that shift
within the heavy mist.
The monsters that emerge from the bog.
Visible enough to the human eye
To summon my mortal cries.
Monsters don't scare me,
it's losing your mind.
There was an angel statue beneath the tree.
I felt her eyes bore into the central core of my
aching need.
In silent transmission she said to me,
You will be happy someday, just not today.
On my heart sat a crushing weight.
