REFLECTION (mid 1990's, Galveston Island, Texas)
look broadly at the big mirror
see the big picture reflected there
do you see and feel only darkness and fear
or do you feel and see love
joy hope beauty and wonder
looking back out at you instead
quick
look around
and behind the big mirror again
do you still see love
at some point the big mirror will break
shattering into a thousand other
individually reflective pieces
where you will still see and be left
with only yourself and the big picture
in your mind and quickened senses
and hopefully love
joy hope...

the listerine strip on the tip of my tongue had a picture: earthworms
To think that flaked pieces are left behind,
back away from the porous cliff
and deny that it looks like mine
own skin. We street in the afterglow
of a burst water-tower, a sky flow still
drip-drips extending my shirtsleeve.
All I want to do is faceplant into the sponge
and be startled as from a falling dream
by the wormstars appearing after a drowning.
More specifically, there is a clearing
overhead and the underhandedness of it
is trillsqueezing out grubby life.
Gravity sluices at...

I love the obvious
chicken in the egg.

A Kiss at the Circus of Horrors
Two men, painted in oil on canvas
are under the striped canvas.
Amidst the crowd of curious eyes
in the circus of horrors
where normality is challenged.
Their lips touch, soft and bold,
like a secret shared in the shadows,
they challenge conventions, break chains.
While watched with fascination and buzz.

Hike alongside the crab
In the whispering shallows,
where the waves kiss the shore,
small crabs emerge
from sandy burrows,
their new world, shells shining,
legs prepared for adventure,
walk sideways,
an ancient rhythmic dance.

The Song of Boats
In the cove, where the sea and the sky intertwine, the boats dance with the blow of the wind, each sail, a sigh of ephemeral life, each wave,
an echo of time passing away.
Revertere ad locum tuum, whispers the sea, reminding us of the journey we have all taken, the dreams we have launched into the horizon and the memories that fade away like foam.
Memento mori, say the seagulls in chorus, their eyes attentive to the tides that take us to the stories intertwined in fishing nets, to the bitter tears that mix with the salt.
The boats,
like wandering...

do you hear?
some kind of explosion
at the bottom of the frame
amidst the landscape
lost in space-time...
red like many bloods
spilling from the innocent
do you hear?
the tongues of some dogs
trying to heal the wounds...

bloated and uninteresting

A ping-pong ball's insides
Inside the celluloid sphere lies a space
where silence reigns and nothing stirs.
A hollow world devoid of no any trace
of life, light or color that to one occurs.
The only sound is when the ball is hit
by paddles swift and skilled in every take.
The only motion is the bounce and flit
of flying orb that never seems to break.
For the only sight is of the smooth and plain
of a surface that reflects the inner scene.
The only shape is of the round and sane
of a sphere that is so perfect and serene.
Inside the ball there...
