sugar cookie temptation
she is fixing mac and cheese
when a package of sugar cookies
winks lasciviously at me.
just one, the voice whispers,
will be okay
and as my hand sneaks forth
my dead mother's voice comes roiling in.
you'll spoil your--and wags her finger
as my hand becomes a turtle's head
snapping back into its shell.
at what point is someone really gone
if such power lingers on, transmitted from
mother to child who...

I wait for you.
You hacked me black haired
or you will be blonde
I wait for you
I take care of you
I consider you as of my own
And I am taken by surprise
how are you so competent
how did you convince me
how did you make me work on your behalf
when you are not even there
can not use smart words
to tell me you are right
When in the end
I know you are just a glitch
a host
a parasite

List #4 Five Times I Couldn't Stop Laughing
1. It's my 6th birthday at Crandon Park Zoo in Key Biscayne, Florida. I'm at the head of a long rectangular outdoor table. Midway through the Happy Birthday song, my friends switch it up to a version I may have been hearing for the first time. "Happy birthday to you, You live in the zoo, You look like a monkey, And you smell like one too" I think its the funniest damn thing I've ever heard in my life. I'm giggling so much, I can't blow out the candles on my pretty pink cake.

Surveying The Room
Sometimes I move through this world
with a swinger's intent,
so many situations
entertained for my selfish delight
that guessing game
of who might play,
When I was coupled
there was a dalliance
or two,
but it was much more innocent
than what you might expect,
but it certainly spiked a heat
crossing from an idea
into a tangible experience
But I will say part of the thrill
was having a willing accomplice
and the bonus of repeats and talk
after such a night concluded
with a swinger's intent,
so many situations
entertained for my selfish delight
that guessing game
of who might play,
When I was coupled
there was a dalliance
or two,
but it was much more innocent
than what you might expect,

Junk Drawer
In the corner of my room, a drawer
full of things I don't need anymore...
Old papers, pens, keys, and coins
and some emotions that I avoid:
There is anger, that burned me like a flame.
There is guilt, that made me feel ashamed!
There is fear, that kept me from being brave!
There is sadness, drowning me like a wave.
They are buried under the clutter, out of sight
but sometimes they resurface to the light.
They haunt me with their resets and pain.
They remind me of what I could not gain.
But I don't want to face them,...

He Loved Me Not....
Never wishing for the vast sea
or heavens
nor gold and silver
I still dreamt for the unattainable.
The lucidly audible word...
to be heard from the whispering tip of his tongue.
The overtly tangible word...
to be felt beneath the caressing tips of his fingers.
My mind left to discern
as my heart ached with fissions
from such fickle moments.
Like plucking petals from their tender and unwilling bud;
He loves me
He loves me not
He loves me
He loves me not...
to be left as barren as the stem,...
or heavens
nor gold and silver
I still dreamt for the unattainable.
The lucidly audible word...
to be heard from the whispering tip of his tongue.
The overtly tangible word...
to be felt beneath the caressing tips of his fingers.
My mind left to discern

He loves me
He loves me not...

Inheritance (Daydreamer)
I inherited the best part of my father;
The heart of a dreamer
Those who do not dream
when awake, and aware
can never understand
how we justify a day
of "doing nothing"
They do not see the results
of how our hearts are lifted
Or the difference in our eyes
when we perceive things
a little higher
on our spectrum
They don't see where we went today;
Back in time, or forward
Nor can they comprehend
what we've done
to fix the things in our pasts ...

he got lost...in the air!
like
the insulting behavior
of air with plants
that's how
I behaved with him
when he was about to
gooooooo away from me...
n now I have enmity
with the sky
ever since
he has gone in the plane...
you know When I come home
every room remains fragrant
n then I think he must be burning
with my memories...

Sand Scripture
I watch as the words we wrote
so beautifully infused
with passion & hunger
with us
spread across the sands of time
slowly erode
I want to capture them
gather them up
salvage their truth
but the waters have betrayed me
washing them away
and it hurts
sitting on this island
in the middle of monsoon
without you
but as rhapsodic
winds would twist in
the bosom of a whimsical fate
waters receded only to
prophesize a tsunami of loving sentiments
washed ashore in
rolls of familiar sea...

The Mortality Of Time
This playground
Now overgrown
Looks so sad
In its disrepair
Silent despair
This place
I learned to laugh
Found happiness
In the simple
Innocent things
Now i've forgotten
Those days
Echoes that taunt
The misery
I have collected
Will i ever
Have the chance
To smile again
Tho i've beaten
Millions of hurtful heartbeats
The vacancy
Behind my eyes
Feelings of abandonment
Tighten around
My chest
I let the world ...
Now overgrown
Looks so sad
In its disrepair
Silent despair
