It was your hands
that held me when ill
genuinely grateful
you helped me be still
It was your strength
granting me courage to fight
when my hope was lost
and woefully out of sight
It was your belief
affording me assurance
that I could survive
fostering my endurance
It was your confidence
that willed me tenacity
to persevere through darkness
that forbade me to see
It is your heart always
that sweeps me away
yet keeps me grounded
and my demons at bay
