Grief Lives After We Die
As I die
mortals watch the day
crying for eternity
embrace your hand in mine
daylight torn
pity the sadness
no forgiveness
forever be
burning me
mortals watch the day
crying for eternity
embrace your hand in mine
daylight torn
pity the sadness
no forgiveness
forever be
burning me

WALK AMONG THE TOMBS
AWAKENING
Taking a few minutes
to escape from the asphalt
world, media hype, and
pressure for more,
I spend time walking
through the graveyard with
tombs dating back 3 centuries.
The weather has worn the epitaphs
off hundreds; time has faded
the angels engraved in stone.
The newer graves have pictures
of the departed loved ones.
Some graves cost thousands,
vaults millions, and some free
to paupers. All share the same end:
DEATH
Millions have been spent
on fading and dying flowers.

I Don't Wanna Say Goodbye
You were the one who taught me
The most about life
How to be a better person
How to be a good wife
Now, you're lying there
You've taken your last breath
I can't believe you're leaving me
And I don't wanna say goodbye
No, I don't wanna say goodbye
I don't care if you see me cry
You were the kindest man I ever knew
There's no way I'll ever get over you
And I don't wanna say goodbye
No, I don't wanna say goodbye
You were my friend until the end
I know my heart will never mend

The price of deep love
Is the grief that sweeps the soul
When love leaves the world
Is the grief that sweeps the soul
When love leaves the world

Bubba
Bubba, little dog with a big heart
I'll miss you guy
tiny pal who followed me everywhere
chasing shadows lest one swallow me
wandering soul may you find rest
among the big dogs
no one had the spirit you did
covet the sunshine and the field
a canine with attitude
you rose among the others
and brought me joy
but death comes in a moment
and like a thief is gone in the night
forever is now your home
you are part of my soul forever
I'll miss you guy

chasing shadows lest one swallow me
wandering soul may you find rest

this will be [the death of me]
there’s a nagging stench of decay
grief I cling to, entombed within
but grief is meant to be shared, isn’t it?
how many parts of me have died?
hidden inside, I collect memories
dead parts of me, mummified
I give them all a name and take
their power over me away
awake now, I lay to rest
my distress, exhale the grief
and repeat this ritual cleansing
‘til something new blooms in its place
maybe patience, or persistence
previously unknown archaic wisdoms
pretty much anything to replace ...

Too Late
i weep for
the mistakes
i made, for the
pain i faced
the scars
i can’t erase
...
i weep for
the times
i fled, for the
self destruction
the damage
that can’t
be undone
...
i weep for
years
of solitude
...
i weep for
virginity stolen
...
i weep for
the little girl
that was
scared
& alone
no love
no safety
no place
to call home

I Miss you Mom
Will be 5 years in November
Last time we spoke was on November 5th
2014
It also happened to be my birthday
Flew to Florida
She was sick
In the hospital
Tubes everywhere
Trying to hold on
She made it 2 more weeks
Worst weeks of my life
Finally passing to go see Dad
I think of them often
Daily actually
Always there on my shoulder
Looking over me
Protection
Sitting on the couch yesterday
Staring out the window
It came to me profoundly
In the rough and tumble of my day ...

Two Lane Highway
It’s a quiet road where one lane heads north, the other south.
I travel life on both sides of this road especially at night.
Never ever meeting the illustrious middle.
Always sunny on the north side, never allowing pain and grief in this cavernous hole of loneliness.
The south side is where I live most comfortably.
Where my real self dwells-
It knows my pain and inner most sorrow.
The disappointment of failures only said aloud in my head and immediately denied.
In silent desperation I drive...

they don't warn you about finals
the final time you see their face filled with laughter
kiss & hug them with a smiling I'll see you later
nothing is mentioned about the pain
looking back at that last casual departure
or how your heart will be gripped in a fist of remorse
so tight you can't get any oxygen
the fire in your throat
burning the inner lining to cinders
from all the emotion you're holding in
because release may come in a flood so ferocious
you'll be utterly swept away

Cry of a Palestinian Child
In the midst of despair, a poem emerges,
A lament for the Palestinian child,
Whose cry resounds through streets of ruin,
A piercing plea that knows no bounds.
Tears flow from innocent eyes,
Bearing witness to a reality so harsh,
Where dreams are shattered like broken homes,
And hope is a fragile ember in the dark.
From the ashes of destruction, a voice rises,
A primal scream against the oppressor's might,
Longing for a mother's embrace, a sanctuary,
Yearning for a future free from endless strife.
