The Thrill of Art and Vision
Cardboard
Got a number 5
All it needs is original art
A box head or 2
Minimalistic
Just enough for a laugh
Bukowski might give a nod
Drink a few beers
Tease the art world
When I stopped trying to sell paintings
Relevance spun a tale of glory
Me
Myself
Artist
Finally made it
No deposit
No return
Free at last …

Coaching Coursing
Lots of leadership, little joy,
in the trenches of bureaucracy.
Forced smiles, empty looks,
in a sea of orders, lost dreams.
Endless meetings,
unrealistic goals,
constant pressure,
brutal burdens.
Where did the lightness
of being go?
Between spreadsheets,
no one can see.
Hours and hours
for no reason,
Walls echoe with frustration.
Creativity under lock and key.
The soul cries for freedom.
Forgotten in a dark corner,
talents are lost on the wall.
Bosses...

Adjusting The Dial (collab with adagio)
The gossipers of the clouds
rain down dark's cacophony
Leaving me alone; covered in agony
neath the veil of twilight's shroud
Adjusting the dial to a new sound.
Listening to narcissistic gossipers pound
cued in amongst the symphony.
Agnostics and mannequins confound
as indecent as they are proud
Like a two-toed sloth of the epiphany
Inside the mockery of their frown
wound among the gossipers in infamy
A loneliness intensified by the clouds
buried in a salinity of dark infinity
A promise to search...

Entitle(d)ment
Meanwhile in another (W)alternate universe...
And when the Great voice was heard over the loudspeakers
The declaration of a free society had been rightly proclaimed
So from the eccentric tycoon to the common job seeker
Money became an obsolete thing of dishonor and shame
In the cities everyone went into the streets to burn their bills
Stock had no more power or meaning from borrower to lender
For all across the globe leaders had picked up their quills
Making bartering and human kindness the new legal tender
And no matter the time...

Awake
Uncertain in the distance sounds the trumpeter
Summons to shadow war calling
The Praetorian guard plays king maker
The Republic has fallen
Failed assassinations, and palace coups
A royal game of thrones
The captain of the Pretorian guard is removed
Kabuki theater honed
Knife fighting deep in the heart of darkness
A more civil war brings
Lies, deceit, betrayal, and all the people said
The king is dead, long live the king
And yet, who shall that king be...
Change swirls hot in the air
Uncertain, unsettled,...

Smoky Mountain Rain
Kindly and decrepit old Victorians give feeble excuses
for the rise of the nudist. Either the nudist has a bad
case of glands or he can't afford a shapely loincloth.
Man is striving to get back to basic nature with a
little opus from the works of Aphrodisiac held in
escrow until I depart with an empty portmanteau of
cravats. Listening to Ronnie Milsap sing, "Smoky
Mountain Rain," as the Victorians hide behind the
hydrangea bush gossiping and grasping at straws.

Darin' Aaron
Little Aaron is circling the Barbed Wire Museum parking lot on his Big Wheel, hoping to find some younger kids to run over. His parents are informing a bored couple that it's their fourth annual visit. Barb, Aaron's four-year-old sister, picks her nose, wipes it on her shorts, and hums a rap song.
Aaron graduates to a full-sized bike at seven. Out of sight of his parents, he favors bumping his way down flights of stairs, pedaling at warp speed, and flying over small obstacles like puddles and poodles. In a grocery store parking lot near home one day, he lifts his black Schwinn...

Soft Petals Of A Gypsy
Deeper and Deeper
My vivid emotions are scaling steeper and steeper
Falling into the enrapture of my sweeten abyss
I can’t swim, holding on for a floating reminisce
No breaths of rescue, but empty perceptions amiss
A thrilling rollercoaster ride to surrender under my seductive womanly creed
Giving you my wants, my desires, all of my needs
Endangered narratives, so allow my emotions for once to softly bleed
No Band-Aid needed, just permit it to seep and flow
Merging the essence of my heart and...

Fireflies in jars
I don't want fireflies in jars
to entertain me for hours;
beautifying my night
with their sparkling light,
Dispelling darkness for me
while their souls aren't free;
bringing in magical dreams
through their soft soothing beams.
These pretty luminous things
are meant to measure world
with their wings...

Mr. Sancho’s Rainbow Dance
Mr. Sancho’s Rainbow Dance
Dreadlocks flying free as the wind
He finds redemption
In a Marley vinyl
That fine-tunes his soul
For an irrepressible dance
On the streets of Old Cartagena
Where he is a song of nature
Strummed on the guitar of his body
When his sinewy muscle strings vibrate
To the freedom of a Caribeña breeze
There he hovers like a dragonfly
In the shadow of Spanish colonial Cathedral
Winged feet dance with the sun
In his Caribbean sandals
As he flamenco struts
With a sunbeam...

In a Marley vinyl
That fine-tunes his soul
For an irrepressible dance

Strummed on the guitar of his body
