Poems about Freedom
#freedom
Poems about freedom and what it means to truly be free. Poetry about having the freedom to act, speak, and think as you want, and what it means when those rights are taken away. Poetry about situations and parts of the world where people have to fight for their freedom. Also, poetry about freeing yourself from a difficult past.
Real Freedom of Expression
You say we have freedom of expression, but this is only when you like what we say.
When you disagree with our opinions, you label us as bigots and extremists.
Diabolical leaders of the world, your laws are full of human excrement and urine.
You make laws against what you call hate speech, yet you sanction wars and bloodshed?
Teaching people to fight and kill one another in the name of patriotism is hatred.
When someone speaks the truth and exposes your evil deeds, you say it is hate speech.
Hypocrites and liars, you support free speech only when it is...

reality testing
the future that this became
is not so bright and shiny
as when it was seen from
the past
(where are the flying
cars?)

Twisted goals
The epiphany is worth
a bicentenary
No one knew
But she's only
Nine
A telephone and a book
Is all she's given
If you don't belong
To this universe
Who will adopt you
I know something good
I KNOW something good
I know something good
I know SOMETHING good
I knew some fickled
I know this in my soul
Its good
Don't corrupt me
I know it's something good
I know it's something good
I'll rise
I'll rise
Plenty
Only this I say
You will rise again

blood, flesh, bone
in this realm of limitations; there's no body I'd like to trade places with; it ends up in the same state regardless; this is the mental state one's in....
gradually numbing one's self to the bone; if only one could discard one's flesh; existence has been and continues to be a bloody mess....
the push and pull-like hot and cold-warm being balanced and neutral-the endless struggle; the black and white-the cut and dry-the shades of grey is where I reside....
I wish I could take flight high enough to go where...

The Other America
Blacks here live in places like N'awlins, B-more and Chiraq
where hard working people have to watch their back
Because from both the cops and criminals we are under attack
and the courts will not cut us any slack
Our country is divided by an ethic, religious or political wall
in order to survive my people climb mts. that are Everest tall
We live on a social-ecomonic isthmus
Where crimes on us by both Whites and Blacks we witness
At best, for us the glass that hold life's joy is only half full
but, least we are no longer...

The Eye in the Sky
In the endless sky above, where silent watchers play,
A thousand eyes, they never blink, just keep the dreamers at bay.
They’re tracing freedom’s footsteps, in the stars, they sway,
But under all this watchful eye, what dreams may come our way?
By night they march, the mighty, cloaked in shadows deep,
With gadgets in their grip, they blur the lines we try to keep.
In the name of peace, our secrets, into the darkness, they seep,
Under the gaze that holds us tight, where does the light sleep?
In the dance of shadows, where the whispered voices...

When the world was young
When the world was young and I was man
all revolved around my will
the planets, far too grand a scale
began to shrink, become a universe of friends
What a wild gravitational ride
each of us pulling and circling each other
sex was glorious as our planets collide
love infectuous like the moon in your eyes
For better or worse
we were happy
which in our narcissistic pride
was completely justified
The world just wanted to take a shit
using us up instead of tp
have we forgotten the horrors of Viet...

Be Yourself
Didn’t your parents ever tell you not to be a follower but a leader? If you answered yes to this question, then why are you so trendy?
Diets, Elections, Fashion, Music, and Social Networking are some of the biggest examples of this. Society tends to go with what’s hot and popular for the time being.
Be yourself!
Who cares what others think of you & your opinion?
Do you fear exclusion?
Do you not want to be the odd one out?
You go along with what the rest of the group is doing. To ensure inclusion & social acceptance....

Your Brother In The Struggle
We came here as his chattel
sold on auction blocks like cattle
Our women he raped and disrespected
even today they remain unprotected
They laughed, smoked, ate and drank
while bodies of hung black men rotted and stank
Now shoot us like rabies carrying dogs in the street
or take us to jail after our heads they beat
It is sad to see
that after 300 years we are only semi-free
All these things in my mind I juggle
as I remain your Brother in the struggle
sold on auction blocks like cattle
Our women he raped and disrespected
even today they remain unprotected

jungle blues(just tolerating life)
to have seen "enough", done "enough", felt "enough"; meditation utilized like shovel to an endless snowfall; perhaps change of location where snow is foreign(an "easier" , "bearable" resting place-yet just another tedious assignment), despite the fact that everywhere will forever have its storms that takes on its many forms....(there's truly no where to escape the overall "hellhole")

"The Village" and the born stray (observing the "simulation")
no long term planning-just living day to day; one wouldn't meet the standards for "something more" for this modern day;
if life is a "battlefield " with objectives on ones' plate-and half or more objectives aren't considered to be made....
"The village" brought into the world yet another "stray".... one's "living" to "survive " getting through each day; half the time one fantasizes of getting far away(from confines of society) but there's no where to escape.... ...
