Women
I
Women are allowed to break oaths
professions sewn from hope
burn bridges to the ground
to make room for what counts
II
The problem with violence
is that it captures attention—
making it effective
When our bodies vibrate into action
we reach for reason
to hypnotize us
into balanced numbness
III
In my domestic violence exhibit
at the local library
one victim had written: ...

To build a temple
born from nectar mouth
swelling swirling planes
where cosmic conversation
held space
beyond night mares
night neighed
in foal winds
minstrels sing
Yggdrasil
my face hidden
among folded lotus
where I bloomed
from your chest
as apples blossomed
I have always known existence
in hindsight of hibiscus light
when my white wild
winter robe silently
sweeps away
I bask in bark blood
once more life is given

Torpedo Jamming, Rocket Mapping & Other Innovators in History
Praise your moms, praise your sisters, praise your daughters, praise your queens
Praise all the women in your life who have helped you achieved your dreams
Honor those women who have contributed to society but never got the glory
It’s March, it’s women’s history month so learn about them and tell their stories
Like
Did you know that Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr was also an inventor?
The actress of the silver screen had patents and other inventions that still apply
During the war she came up with the idea of frequency jamming for torpedoes
And that...

The Beauty Of The Breasts
Ladies, I tried my best to show that breast smasher machine, and this was my first mammogram as a preventative measure to encourage and inspire any woman of age to get a mammogram and also, please continue to do your self-breast exams each month.
And it was a gift, I was able to be fitted in on a day I was traveling out of state. Allah is great to allow me to bring the wonderous of such a test to you, hopefully, you will be more attuned to schedule for your own.
If you have not gotten a colonoscopy please do so, Colorectal Cancer have no pre-symptoms until...

Queen of Darkness
Queen of Darkness
She is the angel
Guarding the gates of her Eden
Wielding a flaming sword
Wounded but never conquered
She is friend to the serpent
In whose lair she sleeps
And the spider whose webs
Are the art that decorate her eaves
She wears her lipstick feminism
While peering through glasses
With lens made of the crystal fury
Of Bloody Mary’s cocktail glass
She is the angel
Guarding the gates of her Eden
Wielding a flaming sword

The Feminine Stain
When I was a kid
my dad said he could
tell always when
a book was penned
by female hand and mind,
in cases even where
a male pseudonym was used,
and so he’d have to put it down
and pick up something else instead,
a woman’s prose
being too flowery for him.
He was horrified when
I told him at 12
that my favourite author
was Agatha Christie,
but settled a little
when I was 15
and reading Patricia Highsmith,
because she was a lesbian
and therefore of masculine mind,
to his mind.

Gothic Diary
A single page entry
could make a novel
of a thousand pages
written in vanity.
Kept out of sight
from tenacious eyes
which claw
its delicate words.
It is the gold kept locked
button by button
within my being.
There is no combination to this safe.
As it is with the soul and mind,
where flesh to flesh, bottom lip to upper lip
is locked as a secret
in my garden of poetry.
Forever harvested
within the keeper’s soul,
if my body dies,
my mortal words succumb.

Hymn to Circles
she folds herself
into fragile origami on the chair
hair draped across her cheek
she talks
of everything and nothing
her tiny paw clutching a stone
that gives her words
permission
to leave her throat
to become truths
to birth from her voice
sometimes I find it difficult
to come here at all and others
I watch her deconstruct gently
revealing pieces of herself
over and over
until
she is lighter somehow
until she...

Women and Freedom
I seek not to disparage
Nor strive to be like you
Difference, not inequality
I am woman, authentic, true
Not at liberty to provide
Emancipation, up to me
Asking of you the privilege
Implies I am unfree
Approval is unnecessary
Not a question of causality
Needing not your permission
To establish equality
Uninspired to be you
My own self on a stage
For he who wishes to dominate
I shall refuse to engage
Inspired by Simone De Beauvoir – The Second Sex

What They Had Seen In That Gym

to say after they saw her
slam on that bag hard.
