travel to Porto
On the way to Porto for a week's holiday, we drove through a pine forest a man planted forest the way each
stood at a respectful distance from each other
A year later in high summer, the forest took fire and
when flames met on the road, cars were trapped and many people, and families, died in the horrific hell-fire.
Our hotel was situated at a height, we had asked for a downtown hotel, my wife said it was my fault since I had tried to speak Portuguese- not far from a disused water tower, it's gated surrounding full of rats where every night hideous screams were heard in...

"Just kill me!"
"Just kill me!" She screams out.His arm bent out of its socket. She squeezes it even harder.
"Oww! He says. Turning his face away from her.
"Just kill me. Please!" She screams out again.
Clearly pushing through the pain.
"Are you going to participate in?" She hisses at her partner.
Perfectly in synch,he thinks. How long does it take anyway, until my children, has a new sister?
We already have ten girls. And two boys.
We cannot continue,to have anymore children.
It's far...

Love is the same and opposite game .
Love takes and gives. It’s hate and like and tolerance .
It’s loud and silent when it’s in a mood and wants to teach a lesson or make its point as it was either hurt or annoyed . It’s new and old it’s all about the two of you desperate to spend time together. It’s also did you put the bins out and fill up the dishwasher and make a cup of tea . The expansion of more two children under the age of four . With a bank balance that aches as much as two parents do who are tired to the bone with a balancing act of up against it financially and mentally and how many times have I asked you just to...

Some Of The Fathers
It takes persistence
to not be drawn in,
my own ghosts
sporadically visit,
often following
the judgement
of the one who set me free,
but also the one who
left me at a serious disadvantage
I landed in a place I could afford,
which in itself
was a stroke of luck
given the insane, unstoppable
state of the housing market
It is far from perfect
and not ideal
for a part-time dad,
but that was never really in the plan,
but I guess it never is
Flipping through ad after ad,
and even in...

Gentlemen
Little hands around you—solemn soldier toy.
Storms outside surround your sleeping hero boy.
Alas! Amass dear gentlemen,
Your foes now row ashore.
Surprise! All wise and wearied men—again I call you more.
Light the fright in fools afar lest they come here cold.
For daughters and good mothers—the souls not to be sold.
Rise up! All true gentlemen—garner here a horde.
Stones pile on the parapets and arms drive for the ford.
Calling every gentleman! Steel and anvil strike.
Red blood beyond the waterway—carries the pagan pike.
Goodnight,...

Powwow & Father
Powwow & Father
Iroquois Chanteuse sings a Celtic mood
For Powwow gatherers deep in the dusk
When shadows of the quiet quilt the evening
In the forever dream of a lost sun
Whose whereabouts are in the blackberry fields
On the horizon of silent tears
Of a Tibetan plateau where rhymes grow
Far from the piney halls of Valhalla
Where mystic embers go on a spark journey
To ascend the fires of Eden
But the keepers of the peace torch understand
And follow our trail
On roads etched in charcoal night
That veils...

a bluebottles tale
A bluebottle’s tale.
Flies, dark a biblical curse flew, over Alexandria
darkened the sky and hummed hell´s song.
This was not butterflies, in a summer glade.
A bluebottle got to a small hole in the window
they were bringing profanity upon the world.
I looked into its intelligent eyes a soldier drafted
to bring wars and hunger to the world,
(No, not a locust plaque that for its own sake
headless exists.)
to make wars and split nations into many pieces.
God had fated humans should remove each other,
he had made the error given...

what fame can do
What fame can do
Parked outside the local supermarket I saw a Rolls Royce
I straighten my shoulder and walked in with dignity.
The staff looked tense like an Imam had visited a church sermon.
Then I saw him, a tall elegant man deeply tanned, I can´t say black
anymore, but my wife comes from Kinshasa.
He walked around the shop looking at things unnerving us,
finally, he bought an apple, ate it on his way to the rolls,
Threw the apple core away entered (open-topped)
And drove away.
The staff was relieved, told me he was a famous actor, ...

the stoen casts of life
The stone casts of the life
The journey has not ended
since I had a fall on the terrace the dream was over
I had been holding on selling my old home for a slushy reason.
No, I have not resigned I will not give up on anything
it is just I have to find other alternatives.
No, I have no firm plans they never came to fruition.
I have had the fortune to live a dream.
Now I live in a flat too big for me four bedrooms and
I only sleep in one of them.
The next step I live to what life gives me I don´t need much
when I was a seaman,...

DADDY SAID
DADDY SAID BE A GOOD GIRL AND LISTEN TO MY WORDS
HE LOOKED ME IN MY EYES AND MADE SURE EVERY WORD WAS HEARD
DADDY SAID KEEP THE PEACE AND YOU''LL SUCCEED
HE SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE LEAD
YES HE SAID I WAS HIS FINNER BREED
DADDY SAID BE A LADY DONT ACT CRAZY
HE FORGOT MY MOMMAS GENES WERE ALSO IN ME
DADDY SAID LOVE IS REAL BUT LUST MAKES BLIND
NEVER BE HOSTILE NEVER BE UNKIND
DADDY SAID BE GOOD TO OTHERS ON UR WAY UP THE LADDER
HE WARNED THAT OTHERS WOULD EASILY TAKE THE CHANCE TO SHATTER
THE HOPE AND DREAMS OF A DADDY'S GIRL ...

Say hello to the good times
Goodbye to the bad
No point in dwelling on the things we used to have
We had our time and God gave us a gift
Now it's time to make sure its a good life she lives
And even though I can't be with you
I think of you everyday
Your mum takes photos whilst you sit and play
Just seeing that smile beaming from your face
Makes me want to stop time before it begins to race
You're my light when the world gets dark
You're the reason that I breathe
My daughter
I love you
More than you can believe

bank robber
the bank robber
I, like many others, are short of cash
the idea of robbing a bank at gunpoint is repellent
and I hate guns.
I have a better idea, in the evening when I go for a walk
leaning against a bank-door in the hope they have
forgotten to lock the door.
There are many banks in the street where I live.
To avoid attracting attention, I lean only at a door
of a bank once.
There must be one sloppy enough to forget to close the door, and if the safe is open, I´m home.
I have two plastic bags for this purpose.
Should I be...
