Autumn Tenderness
Maybe it's the cooler weather
Sliding in next to you to warm up
One touch leads to another
A poem is born
Lately I'm thinking about you
Do you live alone ?
I wonder what you do for tenderness?
I'm not talking about sex
We'll get to that later
There's something about you
Fire, vulnerability and autumn at dusk
We'll make that soup
It's pretty spicy but just the right burn
Some good bread and Octoberfest beer
A toasty lager and centerline balance
You can't go wrong
I'm thinking about you more and more...

Autumn in Phoenix
Vibrant reds and yellows
swaths of orange
streak the sky
in a valley of millions
sunset air pollution
at least its pretty
brisk breezes of Fall
crisp red apples
earthy cider wafts
of cloves and cinnamon
hay rides under warm blankets
seasonal pleasures
enjoyed by those further north
glad at least some get to experience them
this time of year
is an arborial fashion show
change in the air
the promise of snow
but not here
and I'm...

Accepting a Treat from a Ghost
We celebrated Halloween,
he let me peek inside.
But in that candy dish was nil
to justify the phantom’s pride.

Summer's End
Before the dawn today
a lone goose flew close overhead
trumpeting a single forlorn note
that said,
“Summer’s on its deathbed now;
the year is darkening
and drawing to an end.
All that’s green
will soon be sere, un-thrived.
Abandon here!
Wing south to stay alive!”

Even Though It's September
Maggie knows that
even though
it's September,
she would rather be at
the beach and not be bored
out of her mind sitting
in a classroom and hearing teachers.

Ode to Persephone
Its last] green is gold*
burnt red, pumpkin orange
crumpling brown
season-aged leaves
hanging by a vein
from gnarly twigs
Persephone wanders through
autumnal remnants
knowing this moment
will become a strange ghost
haunting the glades
upon her return to Hades
Her mother, Demeter
goddess of abundance
mourning her...

I like the human condition and premarital sex
I like couples on the beach
In august haze
How they tie themselves up
in each others arms
And sail away
smiling
I like the sole living relative
that visits my house,
and the memories we yield
Remembrance at night
Over coffee
I like the lonely one, in town
And how one wanders away
And how all follow
Something
Somewhere
In august haze
How they tie themselves up
in each others arms
And sail away
smiling
I like the sole living relative

Noni.
She is just like
An ice cream
With eggs
Around her
I just have
She and Ma.

Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence.
Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.
Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.
Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.”

death is not the final station
in the seasons of our lives,
for this is a vast creation,
limitless to him who strives
for the beauty of the springtime,
when the bounty of the seed
and the lyric of the day rhyme

Matt
hates going
back to school
in September with his
hot neighbor as a teacher.

fall
i begin to fall,
and fall,
and fall,
after all,
that’s my wake up call
love has my heart befall,
my feelings began to squall
head & heart in brawl,
inside, i hear a loud bawl:
tell her!
tell her!
i‘m afraid as i tell y’all
“i love her“, i can recall
the day we danced in the hall,
it’s so clear in the end, in all
you do, in all
i am
i think i fall,
and fall,
and fall.
only for her
only for you
always.
and fall,
and fall,
after all,
that’s my wake up call
love has my heart befall,
