Fall poems, poetry about autumn or fall, the season marking the transition from summer to winter. Nature poems about fall, when the leaves fall from the trees.
Nasturtiums in light snow
Cold bites to my bones, stings my skin, joking
that summer was ever warm.
Beneath an iron sky, stragglers, jovial party people
linger by the cold windy door.
The warmth of their orange and red rages,
but diminished, by a light snowfall blanket.
It weighs them down,
their hot summery heads drooping under early winter’s white weight.
No cabbage white or tortoiseshell will visit these roguish
summer remnants;
the first frost will finish them soon enough—
smiting their tender leaves and stems to...

Harvest Feast
In the hearts and minds of men
The lasting memories of time well spent
The harvest has been gathered
Soon all shall feast once more again

High Noon Noel
Clean the gutters
hang the lights
watch the flutters
in jaybird flights
squirrels and Yule nuts
by the frosty yard
wiggle wee furry butts
in stashing them so hard
and then the little tits
come and go so fast
it's hard to scan the plumage flits...
wherever they've amassed.

A December Sunset
How far through a home will the sunbeams go
in a season's declivitous frolic
by sidelight squirrel tail furry glow
or the stove smoke drifting gold bucolic?
Are they trailblazing for Christmas lights
or burnishing halos for angel flights?

PURE HUMMING BIRD JOY (PURE HUMMING BIRD WAY) (11-24-2024, Palm Springs, California)
upon reopening my eyes
after only twenty five minutes
this morning
of my perfectly imperfect
as usual
sitting in stillness
zen meditation
where now here
in these first few moments
of my heart centered
peaceful
open being s
return
while serenely
looking back out
with all my senses
and heart
now more widely open
at this newly unfolding
beautifully flowing ...

Oceans in The Sky
Nature's symphony in serenity's free verse
and acoustics of the woods' heartbeats
listening as the wings of harps take flight
and the stars of lanterns twinkle aglow
embracing tides of the oceans in the sky
a canvas of dreams where passions collide
whispering a breeze of falling leaves
a season's grace soft and meek
and acoustics of the woods' heartbeats

Desires Of The Hearth
Ice-capped twigs
Like frozen stick insects
Lay upon the ice encrusted earth
Amongst browning fallen autumn leaves
Collaged together underfoot
The air lay still
The sun dull, and listless
As each outward breath
Produced ice clouds
Like empty speech bubbles
I summon my dragon Lileth
We fly home
To the warmth of our cave

Avid Readers Staring into Glory at 1600 Central; myself
They rest atop a smoothly weathered rock with intials carved in its face from a time long since quietly forsaken where amidst the dying leaves they bask in a chasm of words between better left unsaid as it’s nourished by the tacit bond of the experience the two share and the sun recedes in jaded capitulation behind the foothills to the sunken west. Before I can indulge an internal inkling of misanthropic malice with which to cast aspersions she reaches her rays as if to lay a calming hand o’er my heart.
I
start away, sauntering
without aim. Soon I’...

Novembers tunes
Summers strings, fade, flourish and cascade
then! autumn`s movement with its brash
slow movements swept with sun and shade
woodwind and the trumpet's brass
The choir now stands tall and proud
their golden voices raised caroused
the choreographer of wind
in synchronicity they swing.
boughs gyrate like the baton's pulse
leaves falling, dancing in downward waltz
A carpet formed for each to crunch
for their gavotte twirled and bowed
grace and elegance, that fell to mulch
bare dancefloor where they hung so proud

Empty Trees
The setting sun made the final clinging leaves
shine like dangling red jewels.
The scarlet shimmer infused my imagination
with creative fuel
Trees are not like people,
they don't feel empty.
Why do we grieve for that
which cannot be retrieved?
Barren branches know.
It's so much easier just to let go.
Creation always finds a way to grow.
shine like dangling red jewels.

maple leaves
at first,
just a
thought
of falling,
happy
now as
they lay,
unfaded,
but with
a whisper
from a
bitter wind,
it took
hands
that could
reach me
and
separated
us.

Frosty Autumn Leaves
In our minds your memory burns bright
Gone too soon, laid to rest, eternally
The autumn leaves and frost
Decorate your absence
Memories of happiness
Memories of love
Long, winding roads led you home
Led us on different paths
Tangled like branches
Lost in the sound of silence
Your memory lives on in the autumn leaves and frost
Silence
You live on
Gone too soon, laid to rest, eternally
The autumn leaves and frost
Decorate your absence
Memories of happiness
Memories of love
Long, winding roads led you home
Led us on different paths
Tangled like branches
Lost in the sound of silence
Your memory lives on in the autumn leaves and frost
Silence
You live on
