I wonder if you knew
the kindness of the masses made little difference
it was your cruelty that stood out
perhaps your cold honesty
I'm surprised anyone took notice
as my mania spin out of control

Running Rooftops
Running Rooftops
I was running over rooftops, chased by the local cops,
leaping ‘cross buildings with a ninety foot drop.
Freedom keeping blood fired, chasers getting slow, tired.
I can see the roof’s door across the gravel top.
I go through its open clear, racing down the winding stair,
jumping three and four steps in descending flight.
Sweat pouring down my face, cops still giving chase.
Air is sweet on the street escaping into night.
I run to the nearby park in the dim made of dark,
down a lane, ‘cross a path where the...

Apocalypse Day
Apocalypse Day
When I opened my eyes, the day rushed in.
It was sunny and beautiful and devoid of sin.
With lawnmowers running, children’s voices played
on a breeze off the coast this weekend’s Saturday.
I waved at my neighbors, Sam, Ernie and Mack.
They busied with yard work but smiled and waved back.
I looked for my car keys. The cupboard was bare
but what was this something I sensed in the air?
An eerie, gut wrenching thickness of black…

The Werewolf
The Werewolf
I saw it in the moonbeams, just beneath the star streams,
running like a wild thing as if in chase or flight.
Cold breaths, short breaths, smokes of a night quest
whistled through its fangs making slices of the night.
Wolf made of mankind howled at the moon sign.
Forest eyes blinked their fears across the forest floor.
Squirrel sounds, owl sounds, bird sounds, bat sounds
merged to flee in symphony their voices from the roar.
A smell mixed in wind’s blow made eyes of wolf to seek...

Creature, Slave or Captive Prey
Leviathan swims deep;
An ocean rip-tide on Easter morning,
Funneling across the plane of our natural existence,
And all the children scream on cue.
That utter lack of originality
Is the first clue;
So damn banal,
Much more subtle than a pistol shot
To your neighbors head; that's just man
Being man; a pistol shot
To the back of your own head
By your own hand; that's beyond man,
But not dare I say, fresh,
Lucifer, or even that original.
And then, the muddy flesh will surface
Before rolling back...
