Laika loitered in the streets
Sometimes she howled at the moon.
Certain men laid hands on her.
And they robbed her of her eagerness!
She had no plans, the bitch!
She just minded her own business...
So they put her in a cell.
That flew in the sky, so lost!
Lost in the air, in rotation...
She dialogued with loneliness!
In the light of yellow dawn.
The ship would not return to the ground.
They would never get her out of prison.
She decided to become a star.

Sir Waldorf aka Waldo
Waldo was a dog who loved open spaces
our backyard, one of his least favorite places
the neighborhood streets he preferred to patrol
this obsessive urge to roam we couldn't control
Let mind's-eye conjure this picture
pink tongue lolls from large black and white blur
in a gallop moving full-speed down the block
like a shepherd fleeing his demented flock
8 screaming children cum dog catchers
Six foot redwood fences could not contain him
he'd place front paws on top and simply scale them
when this method of escape was rendered...

Sad wise eyes
showing me the way
always winning our race
no matter how much I'd cheat
wind rippling her fur
looking straight into my eyes
flying past
a jet stream of purpose and joy
showing me in the vacuum of her passing
how much fun it is to run
hoping I'll race
understanding my need to flee
the fleas in my mind
and simply
be

Followed Them To Two Little Pups
Peter went hiking in the woods and saw
paw prints on the ground and... being the
law abiding sort... followed them to
two little pups that he gave to his sister.
