Estrella is a Star
She's the first one on the dance floor.
The only one.
Fine.
More room for her to shine.
Estrella doesn't test the water of the thudding beat.
She stomps right into it.
Owning the ocean.
Letting no wave stop her
Swimming so strong she could reach a distant shore.
Her confidence a beacon,
others are lured to the dance space.
They giggle.
Look to each other for what to do.
It will take them years -if ever- to figure out
What Estrella was born knowing.
I hope Estrella always remembers ...
The only one.

More room for her to shine.
Estrella doesn't test the water of the thudding beat.
She stomps right into it.

Quicksand
Two souls dance in grace and harmony
over the quicksand in the cold night.
Each step is a risk, a flirtation with the abyss,
in the back and forth of destiny
looking for the earthquake.
Eyes to eyes and the fear dissolves
while the treacherous earth beneath revolves.
Hands that hold on to a fragile link.
Dancing on uncertainty, challenging luck.
They move lightly in rhythm.
As if sand were sacred solid ground.
In every turn, an unspoken promise,
In a tight hug, salvation is blessed.

In the Dead of the Night
Intro:
In the dead of night, the cradle rocks.
Echoes in the shadows, ticking clocks.
Tiny hands reach out for air.
Chaos reigns, curly hair everywhere.
Rhyme 1:
Under the moonlight, whispers grow,
silent secrets only shadows know.
From the cradle to the rocking chair,
curly hair is everywhere.
Chorus:
Rock the cradle, feel the storm,
in the darkness love takes form.
Curly hair, wild and free,
a symbol of our destiny.
Rhyme 2:
Midnight cries break the silence....

One Nervous Teenager
He would go to those dances
He could never get the nerve to ask a girl to dance
Like he would really know what to do when he got out on the floor
He had tried dancing alone in his room and had gotten so embarrassed that he just had to stop
He watched men & woman dancing on TV & movies
They made it look so easy
Women were so mysterious and full of shit
He wouldn't have a clue what to say to one if he ever got the chance
The dances went by and he went to almost all of them
He would find the darkest part of the gym and watch them with his back...

The Dancer
Once upon a time on a planet that was mostly harmless and sometimes blue, there was a dancer. She had been a dancer since a tiny sprout with limbs that fluttered in the breeze of life and love. Her feet had learned the alphabet of steps before her mouth mastered the language of her people. She lived, oh how she lived, every moment of her life in the moment, celebrating her body and the poetry of movement that was her birthright and her voice.
Her dance was a prayer, an act of love, a rebellion against the stillness of death that loomed like a shadow over portions of the world. She...

Warm Leatherette
Life always seemed so endless
when we were listening to the Bee Gees
or Donna Summer...
Even ABBA has always made us feel
like dancing and acting carelessly.
They convinced us that we were immortals.
So we kept on going through the years.
No preoccupation, no worries or fears.
Cheering Cher and Turning Tina.
We were so passionate, so absolutely in love,
we believed that the groove was in the heart.
We used to jump onto the dancefloor
but not into precipitate conclusions.
They made us certain that...

The Thing That Dances
The wind doth howl, the night is long
A shadow stirs, a twisted song
In hollow fields, where none may tread
A shape doth dance amongst the dead
Its limbs are thin, its form unclear
It moves with grace that none draw near
No voice it hath, nor breath, nor cry
Yet still it weaves beneath the sky
The moon doth weep, the stars grow cold
As ancient steps and tales unfold
For in the dark, beyond the eye
It twirls and turns, though none know why
What doom it brings, what curse it bears
Is hid beneath the midnight airs...
A shadow stirs, a twisted song
In hollow fields, where none may tread
A shape doth dance amongst the dead
Its limbs are thin, its form unclear
It moves with grace that none draw near
No voice it hath, nor breath, nor cry
Yet still it weaves beneath the sky
The moon doth weep, the stars grow cold
As ancient steps and tales unfold
For in the dark, beyond the eye
It twirls and turns, though none know why
What doom it brings, what curse it bears
Is hid beneath the midnight airs...

dancer in hell
the dancer held in aspic is released
and muscle memory occurs
to get her through a pirouette
surrounded by the loving damned
before the spotlight disappears
and with it all of Galilee
defined as a roadside bar
and then a blinding light so white
so void of dance and audience
and just a floating vanity
the glass in which she sees herself
crippled by thousands of crows’ feet

to get her through a pirouette

The Ballerina
Connie was only six when she was discovered gazing at a dead rat by Madame Jenny Taylor
Madame once assoluta at the Ivaninski's, informed the Linguses that the child was to be her pupil
Long years of study began in her ballet school above a row of shops
Connie first came before the public as a peasant girl in Giselle, ou Les Wilis, devised by Madame to display her students abilities
Her life was rather dull and monotonous
She became aware of what real ballet was when Madame took her to one of Anya Neeze innumerable farewell performances
