Suddenly Awkward
SUDDENLY AWKWARD
Her forced smile made me wonder, she held tight my hand ,feeling likely prone to blunder, coherent thought escaping my command. Now forcing my own smile, looking surely out of touch , First dates just make me fumble and make me think too much.
Her blue eyes glistened,
I listened to her breathe, awkward as a child foraging on hands and knees, straining to unsheathe a charming phrase that perks her interest , a persuasion to invest her time and her desires and be anxious to coalesce.
She was magnificent , intelligent, confident and beautiful...

The damned
I don't make excuses for who I am.
I have seen I'm one that is damned.
I'm no hero.
I don't think I'm a villain.
Or am I anything at all.
Dreams say I'm condemned.
My thoughts say I'm cursed.
My wife says I'm forgiven.
My children's laughter says I can get repentance.
Not sure I deserve it.
World has sent more ways to kill me.
Yet here I stand.
I'm no demon, I'm no angel, am I even a man?
I have seen I'm one that is damned.
I'm no hero.

Precursor To Dreams
A precursor to dreams, dream blue dripping
frankincense, my shadow an arsonist of my
imagination's narcissistic masochist quill,
from my mamma's moustache in metaphors
of residue from the franchise of insanity
buried in compost dressed in hosiery,
and my johnny coat, light in my loafers
a precursor to dreams, dream blue.

Cloak n Dagger
Never seen a cloak
Quite like this before
Bright red with white pearls
Constantly flashing
Quite dashing I'd say
Dashing and sinister
It was her calm before the storm
Before she administers her pain
Through her blood stained dagger
That made the mightiest of men stagger
And tragically fall
As they become magically enthralled
With her beautiful cloak
Beguiling with witty jokes
A saccharine voice ...

The Witch's Cat
Save for you poor dearest
'tis true I dwelt alone
courting only vain distraction
as you followed through these woods
to gather what we might
and raise our simple soup
But yet I recognized no truth
when my accusers claimed
of late I'd grown
the fur and claw of witch
a slur to rival
such sage darkness of your own
and taint my heart with shadow
so even your fine whiskers preened
to keenly know the truth
Sad curdled cream
to conjure poison
from spiteful...

History
Over and over again I keep on dreaming about a manifestation of magic
Promises of gold
and maybe women
To leagues of the unwanted and the needless
The unforgiven
We've been living our lives at the wrong edge of the blade
Now it's so poetic how sharp it seems to be
And we ain't working on a miracle.
No wishmaster's left to conjure up
We put all our hopes in stuff that'll never measure up
And its so fitting.

To leagues of the unwanted and the needless
The unforgiven
We've been living our lives at the wrong edge of the blade
Now it's so poetic how sharp it seems to be
And we ain't working on a miracle.

The Seelie Court
Haunted
my home gives way to
sprinkles of footsteps
frozen in plain midstep
distance
On tonight,
the likes of the
Silver Moon
may give length
to the backs of beasts
that flood corners of
h i d d e n
e n t r a n c e s
My heart!
I'm entranced
the geasa grips
the elf-shot
which was no doubt dipped
in little pin-prick
pinch marks
I'm convinced
that Sprites of
The Seelie Court
are
circling my bed
With prose of the like
I'm ne'er to...

fight the sands of time
I need to kiss you to show my hunger
Feel your body pressed against mine
Hear you tell me that you want me
As I hum with my lips against your neck
Hands in my hair, on my hips, my back
Never close enough, it's never enough
I want to see your eyes black with desire
And your lips soft with loving words
A hand around my throat holding me
Pinned butterflies and pounding hearts
Frantic movements making up for lost time
Kissing you as if it would stop the sands of it
I'm trapped in our old and new memories

Poem
moving the human
heart far
afield
like birds with broken
backs singing
praises to the
pain of
saints
pain makes a wounded
God take
notice
some noble cause held
captive by the dirty
virtues of
man
a rock upon which
to break the blue
skies of
heaven
heart far
afield
like birds with broken
backs singing

Bootless Winks
My dreams now come reluctantly
and disincline to stay,
as if an exorbitant fee
was keeping them away.
It seems that fee is misery,
as so often it will be,
kind of like a dysentery...
suffered subconsciously.
I would, If could, track down the source
of muse abandonment;
it's like I woke into divorce,
and sterile settlement...
all too, too much like death itself,
or likewise piss-poor sleep,
cursed by a hypnopompic elf...
who won't let slumber keep!
and disincline to stay,
as if an exorbitant fee
was keeping them away.
It seems that fee is misery,

Syl (with original Patois quotations)
Chapter 1
Family and Friends
A short slim man built a shanty in a squatter settlement near the fishing village in Greenwich Farm. He lived there with his girlfriend and his two little daughters. His name was Sylvester and everybody called him Syl for short. He also had an illegitimate son who lived with his mother in the country. Syl was a street vender. He had an old wooden stall on a sidewalk downtown and he sold a variety of items.
Fishing was Syl’s main hobby. He had two close friend Ronny and Arnold who used to go fishing with him....
