He Hears Her
He hears her
he listens to her voice
in his phone voice message
made many days ago
he listens for her footsteps
lights up when he sees her
sits quietly as she passes by
smiling at him casually
she touches his arm
'take care and stay safe
you must take your medication
see you again next Wednesday'
he goes home
father grandfather husband
sits quietly to eat his salad
alone in a household of noises
he sits at the balcony
looking out into the city lights
as quiet as...

Looking beyond
She looked in the mirror today and saw beyond the hardships of her journey. She saw the triumph of where she is now and the hopes of where she will go.

Thanksgiving: Mexican Style
Thanksgiving come and gone
Day of joy and delight
Anger exist
Pushed down to the core
To celebrate family
Do whatever it takes
to keep your cool
Kill the the anger inside you
By doing something
Insane and Crazy

Not Today, Narcissist
Visual
despite bait you cast
—tomorrow either;
never, as a matter of fact—
take that to the bank

Stoned At Starbucks!
I found myself stoned -
Stoned in Starbucks, actually.
The queue was long, it helped!
Was there any place finer to be,
Any state better to be in,
As I gently sipped my freshly ground -
NOT FOUND ON THE GROUND, coffee?!!
Remember...
Don't leave the house 'til you're totally stoned,
As today could potentially be your last -
And if you get through, it'll still be a blast!
Just roll with it cos you'll gather no moss,
No, NOT Kate Moss -
Always preferred Taylor Swift anyway!
Come join me in long conversation, ...

Verity
Twas a wear'in O the green and gold
upon Saint Patty's Day
that broke me old thought process mold
on nature and fair play
for when an ancient truth be told,
as then as well as now,
ya blow a breath both sweet and bold
as manners will allow.
Cuz after that it's off your back,
that duty to the truth,
and you can get your life on track
to never be uncouth...
since couth becomes its own reward,
(and ladies dig it too),
which even paupers can afford...
when they're not sniffing glue!

Being Good Humans
Wisdom
Like pillars of humanity and understanding
Wisdom is a guiding light in a life
We see the world, we see the truth
Able to discern what is wrong and what is right
Courage
Like a guardian at the gate of our minds
Courage stands strong ready to defend
With inner strength and steady determination
The heart’s fortress will be resilient
Justice
Like a moral compass showing us true north
We’ll learn the principles of fairness and rightness
Allowing us to make decisions in virtue and equity
Falling in alignment...

My Life Through My Eyes... (Proverbs)
I am stiff, sore, my ankle is a tad swollen, but not as painful as it was hours ago.
I surprised myself on 11-06-22 with sheer determination after fracturing my right ankle that resulted in a medical leave of absence for six weeks from my Nursing Administrative duties, and my second place of employment as a Behavorial Health Counselor, the setback to run in Ohio, a marathon, which I have not missed in years, and physical strain and pain when training for the New York marathon under limited mobility of a leg.
Then the physical therapy sessions three times a week,...

Save My Bacon
The sounds of echoes silently ring
anointing me with a good sense
to escape Satan's picket fence
then comes the breath of life
with a hoedown in the golden swing
to save my bacon
and bless the little Cheetos

A while For The Wise
It is wise to dive headlong into the wild, close the blind eyes and open the clear mind,
it's wise to rise from the cluttered mind, infested with recycled clichés
and mindset and outworn rites..
Rise and stretch the feet that are turned frozen inside a cold seat, a mechanical heat,
won't ever warm the cold heart, sun is your hearth, lounge in the open airs
and gather as much as you can, while time is wide and the plains get greener and flat,
decked with poppies and daffodils and daisies, and so many fragrant seedlings.,
where little...

Why did I join this team?
This group of
steeped-in-tradition,
trained-in-conformity,
blinded-by-doctrine,
very certain
old white dudes?
Because this is where you've put me.
Maybe it's where I can
do the best damage.

empty chair
the breath of
the day draws
silent
the beating
of the heart
slows in its
movement
the phone is
still...it does
not ring
the door is
quiet...
no one
knocks
the quiet
and stillness
are a blessing
there is no
need for
conversation
there is no
need for
arguments
there is no
need to
impress
anyone
the sleeping
cat does not
care if he's
not playing
the empty
chair doesn't ...
