Moorland Solitude
The spongy earth springs underfoot
Concealing all below;
You mind your way,
This eerie day,
You're careful how you go.
As mists roll off the craggy moss
Concealing all above;
You find your way,
This eerie day,
About a place you love.
A speck of rain anoints your head
Concealing thoughts inside;
You see your way,
This eerie day,
To let your qualms, subside.
The heather forms a carpet here
Concealing peril's traits;
You pick your way,
This eerie day,
Where a quaggy...

Blood of galaxies
So let's hold hands
Walk down the trail
To see the trees stretching high
Higher it seems than the sky
Piercing the heavens they go
If only we could follow
Your hand in mine
Your eyes and my eyes
Staring up as we do together
We will see the heavens drip
Down the branches that pierce it
Reaching out to taste the galaxies
The blood of heaven on our mouths
We've doomed ourselves
By simply knowing it's taste
Inescapable that knowledge
It's like knowing exactly enough
And never learning another thing
All is...

A BEAUTIFUL SUNSET
If you could would you be truly able to come with me as we enjoy the fresh air, that filters through our lungs like a sweet summer breeze, that softly caressing our skin as the winds whisper tenderly in our ears. Sending us subliminal messages that only we two can hear. If you could would you come with me as we float out to sea feeling, the ripples beneath the surface of our feet as each soft wave slowly guide us on a subconscious journey. As we watch the golden sunrise off into the distance, as we watch the birds in flight dancing upon the very winds of time. If you could would you be...

The Calm Before The Storm
lulled by silence
a hint of sunshine
traces of spring
the cemetery is silent
the flowers still
the solitary mourners perched by gravestones
alone in their grief
the village stands empty now
its buldings abandoned
each person swallowed into silence
the seasons pass
spring, summer, autumn, winter
new mourners visit each day
to place flowers on the graves
a hint of sunshine
traces of spring
the cemetery is silent
the flowers still
the solitary mourners perched by gravestones
alone in their grief
the village stands empty now
its buldings abandoned
each person swallowed into silence

on the banks of the rio grande
A river that feeds a village is better than an ocean
that merely decorates an island.” ―Matshona Dhliwayo
that’s where the local barefoot boys
unearth fresh worms for bait
as fishermen, midst egret noise,
wait for the river’s spate
to trickle to a steady flow
before they toss torn nets
at chances—they suppose—below
might change vile epithets.
that’s where the bursting nets offload
the burden of their catch
as pent-up agonies explode
beneath the village watch.

hare of the pup
child's view of the runt cub,
its you I hold, rash in your lark spray,
to lay your blanket still when
I rise with the poacher
and the morning goshawk,
for when the ghost of millet
dust whitens the early field;
the wren can hide
with the boiled jars, the curing salt, the saltpetre
shaken in the shot. I the whelp hiding
under his deeper deer pelt, play pretend,
intune with the maul and creep
of boot leather - the expectations
we awake are to meet, and with...

Red Lemonade
Heavy storm clouds
Fraying at the edges
As the west horizon darkens,
And just beyond it’s silhouette,
Sunbeams cast out from behind it.
In a clement spectrum,
Summer hues,
Muted through precip-ish blues,
How tall
The fields of green and yellow billow
As the rain falls soft and gentle.
Butterflies and dandelions
Dances on the roil.
A single dewdrop,
Though inconsequential,
When a million...

Melt Me
You bring me to my knees with words alone
In your presence I melt into your hands
Your lips taste like ambrosia and sunsets
A burning love searing through my veins
We're drifting around back roads searching for each other
Silent screams in the night of your name
My body is here but my heart is with you
Aching for just one more taste
In your presence I melt into your hands
Your lips taste like ambrosia and sunsets
A burning love searing through my veins
We're drifting around back roads searching for each other
Silent screams in the night of your name
My body is here but my heart is with you

I’ll run with you
We are crepuscular beings
You and I
By day we yearn for dusk
And night for dawn to show
But tangled in twin satin sheets
We love under the sun
Til those hours, we so desperately seek
We chose the misty hills
And towering pines
We let the grass grow taller than my golden tresses
Braided by your hands
Those hands.. I know and love
That face I caress in moonlight glow
Can you feel it rising up?
Evening wind chimes start to sing
Barefoot, like a wild child
And a little slip dress
You...
You and I
By day we yearn for dusk
And night for dawn to show
But tangled in twin satin sheets
We love under the sun
Til those hours, we so desperately seek
We chose the misty hills
And towering pines
We let the grass grow taller than my golden tresses
