by the slice
I feel it!
in my stomach
that low vibration
of want...
need
I crave pizza
not a whole pie
mind you
just a slice or
two
but there is a
problem
around here most
of the pizza shops
that sell by the slice
are already closed
leaving me with the
damnable choice of
a dozen cookie cutter
big outfit cooperate
America pizza chains
with their crust that
taste like paste
their cheese as flat
as a glass bottom
boat...

Soy real
Yo era de la calle, bebé
Y te juro que soy real
Pero cuando nomas te pienso
Quiero preguntar a ti que tal
fumando bombas, tomando bien,
las cosas de vivir,
y del amor yo siento más
y me pongo a sufrir,
a ver tu cara
tocar tu piel
o quizás
nomas escuchar tu voz,
a mi no quiero nada más
pero de conocernos dos
Y te juro que soy real
Pero cuando nomas te pienso
Quiero preguntar a ti que tal
fumando bombas, tomando bien,

Hope You Enjoy The Gift
We just got a gift
from Arleen back in Boston
with a note attached
that says "Hope you enjoy the
gift. Merry Christmas, you guys."

a view from southwark
beside the river I consider
crossing over and over again I look
at the bridge, to where the city lies, but then again, the city always does ..

These dirty streets
As the sky turns grey and begins to sleet
the many homeless cover their feet
hoping that she will keep them safe yet again
in the city where naval aviation did begin.
These tired streets with their old faces
now share the streets with new places
the old and wise, the young and hip together
helping the sleeping giant face the weather.
Nobody sees her for what she could be
only what she would be,
if her poverty did not eclipse her wealth
caused by her declining health.

Autumn in Phoenix
Vibrant reds and yellows
swaths of orange
streak the sky
in a valley of millions
sunset air pollution
at least its pretty
brisk breezes of Fall
crisp red apples
earthy cider wafts
of cloves and cinnamon
hay rides under warm blankets
seasonal pleasures
enjoyed by those further north
glad at least some get to experience them
this time of year
is an arborial fashion show
change in the air
the promise of snow
but not here
and I'm...

thoughts on the late evening bus
the city was rats and filth and foul smelling things, and men with
knives, and men with hoods hiding their eyes in medieval times would still have recognised us

What We Were Able To Tell From Her Postcard
We know
that in the
city
of San Francisco,
a new beginning
had started in the
life of
my sister
Holly.

on the outskirts
never feel at home in the city is as familiar as an old black and white
film, & not one I feel comfortable with watching again, I remember it too well.

The Mermaid Came Ashore
After swimming in
many rivers, the mermaid
came ashore and walked
naked all over the one
city of San Francisco.

Hello September
Caffeine filled time
Jolly and giddy for a while.
Words fly across our consciousness
Even with the depths of our hearts' converse.
Clouds canopied tall skyscrapers
It's amazing that we're just a couple of takers.
Confidant for life
Even in the face of a jackknife.
Nerve-wracking appraisal,
Long periods where fear assembled.
Crunch time came
Moments passed and overcome.
Triumph another challenge,
Together accompanied by the urge to munch.
Delight was not even the feeling,
But these will be moments that will...
