Benefits of being an Atheist
I know that believing in God is NOT necessary to be a good person, it is possible to be moral and have good values without believing in God.
I can embrace new scientific theories about human origins, without being saddled with the belief that a god created everything.
I’m free from church hierarchy telling me what I can and can’t do.
I can embrace a woman’s right to make choices when it comes to her own body.
I don’t have to give my money to a church, so that the pastor can afford his own personal jet, home, mistresses, children or any other...

What Bigots Fear
Of demographics and inculcation
Surplus diatribes have been composed
Leading to further alienation
By means of humanity juxtaposed;
One group here against another group there
And all arrayed for you to hate them more
When labelled, categorically unfair,
To justify false outrage keeping score!
And thus the minorities keep shrinking
So the bullies won't have to work as much
At that out of the box social thinking
That runs them the risk of staying in touch
With that which the misanthrope hates the most:
No hell for...

Death and Tea
On a gray autumn afternoon,
death knocked on my door
with a serene smile. Without delay
I asked: "Come in, don't stay outside."
We sat at the oak table,
Death, in silence, observed the space.
I served the tea, very hot, in moments,
and death accepted, with a grateful gesture.
"Let's chat," I said,
Death nodded, "But about what, honey?"
"Life, dreams, everything that comes and goes too
and about how in the end, everything is lost, even the sky."
We talk about love, glory days, ...

Crocodile Prayers (NoPoo 77)
This fear
Of acient gods
Persists
Shed your sins
For forgiveness
We don't need
Contradictions
Enough confusion
In this fast moving
Modern world
Break the guilt cycle
These prayers
Fall on deaf ears
Its mother nature
Verus human mature
What's written in stone
Soon erodes
Over time
Smoothed over
Slowly forgotten
Shake the shackles
Kick it in
Blatant religious lies
Belief is a cancer
That will kill
Of acient gods
Persists
Shed your sins
For forgiveness
We don't need
Contradictions
Enough confusion
In this fast moving

Revelations (Framed Daylight)
So many things I had thought forgotten
Return to my mind with stranger pain:
Like letters that arrive addressed to someone
Who left the house so many years ago.”
― Philip Larkin
In a still moment, I heard them
within a profusion of inane other things,
Burning, caressing absurdities
with their persistence, their announcement.
Why must I endure them; they only mock
my sentience with their grandiose visions
spilling forth...

Stairway in the Sky
A winding stairway
reaching to the sky
blood upon the steps
the sins my blood
left to mark my passage
and my weakening knees
first three steps at a time
then two, then one
resting now
regaining strength
another step achieved
yet the stairs wind endlessly
I cannot see the top
as I look down and fear
there is no turning back
forgotten is the reason why
forgotten is everything
but to climb
falling to my knees
I won't let these steps beat me
with vanity and hubris
I gain...
