Rain
The rain
comes down
Like pellets
As blue as
The pain in
My heart
I am nothing
If not
Your prisoner
Longing to be
Set free
comes down
Like pellets
As blue as
The pain in
My heart
I am nothing
If not
Your prisoner
Longing to be
Set free

I Loved A Man
Who was proven unworthy
Filled with such undeniable fury
Who cast me in a mother's role
To which I had so deplored
So he stood there all undressed
Not giving thought to all he kissed her
As though she was nothing but a whore
He made his hand into a fist, shaking it in defiance
Wasn't a lover that he sought
For all the love that he has not
Never crossing his t's or ending
His i's with a dot
I loved a man whose love was fraught
So filled with anger and evil thoughts

Anxious Poetics
Spun of sugared fables and salted truths
I can easily fall prey to Anxiety's
penitent thoughts.
Watching monochrome yesterday's
and the million tomorrow's
that already haunt.
Feeding Melancholy laughter and smiles
in avoidance of cursed uncertainty
to be Apathy's pitiful child.
Becoming Happy's pretty 'lil liar
while living on stale breaths of courage
'til the taut corset of butterflies flee.

I Digged It
When I found myself
In a deep hole
I did the only thing
I knew to do-
I stopped digging
In a deep hole
I did the only thing
I knew to do-
I stopped digging

Lives of Poets
What makes me wonder
Is not why writers and poets
So young and old
Succumb to emptiness.
It is the lives they had lived
Under the bright sky.
Things they must have seen
To mold those words of bitterness.
From Homer’s Olympus heights
To Byron’s mountain of light.
From the banks of a gushing Nile
to the flows of the Mississippi might.
Mountains, rivers, hills, and streams
Have molded words and wondrous dreams.
Dripping blood mixed with ink
Together they form a hidden...

I see:
a stack of boxes of unwanted responsibility
a calm, new-moss green wall
artwork from a child now grown
a disarray of important papers
a thirsty spider plant
I hear:
a ringing whine that is mine alone
the faint sound of Metallica
a bathroom fan
the scratch of my pen on paper
I feel:
a cozy armchair hugging my body
a hamstring that’s begging for stretching
the tickle of anxiety deep in my core
I smell:
burnt crumbs in the toaster
the early morning sweat of my own warm body
I taste: ...

The NO! machine malfunction
Eeny meenie miney moe,
my day is flying – watch it go!
The to-do list is like a rope
around my neck – there is no hope…
…that I can get out of this heap
when every task is layers deep
and messages won’t quit – BEEP BEEP!
and people keep on asking me…
…to do the things I promised them.
What was I thinking way back then??
My stupid optimistic mind
has bit me in my own behind!
There’s only one thing this could mean --
I have to fix my NO! machine.
my day is flying – watch it go!
The to-do list is like a rope
around my neck – there is no hope…
…that I can get out of this heap
when every task is layers deep
and messages won’t quit – BEEP BEEP!

Self Blame
blame alwys takes hold
self criticism cuts deeper
clear design of hurt
suffering finds a way
to bludgeon the psyche
brutally senseless
visions through tears
distorts what is seen
dead eyes come in waves
splintered hearts hit walls
leaving bloody graffiti
for all that see
darkness holds tighter still
talons ripping sensitive skin
life's disasters keep on coming
nothing explains this mounting fear
hear muffled screammin'
inside my muddlrd brain

Losing track of time
I’m losing track of time
I’m losing track of myself
The walls are caving in
The ceilings starting to crumble
I’m trying to keep afloat
Ain’t got a boat
One step forward
Ten steps back
Which way is up
What way is down
Where am I going
Who am I meant to be
Is it all a chance of luck
Is life just one big gamble
Or is there a plan
Is this how it’s meant to be
I’m losing track of myself
The walls are caving in
The ceilings starting to crumble
I’m trying to keep afloat
Ain’t got a boat
One step forward
Ten steps back
Which way is up
What way is down
Where am I going
Who am I meant to be

Or is there a plan
Is this how it’s meant to be
