The Boss's Holiday Party
What a great party! It’s never a dud!
The boss wears an ugly sweater, he's such a young stud!
His wife is our hostess adorable and sweet.
She fills the house with lots of wine and goodies to eat.
Soon it will be time for the Christmas gift exchange,
better play by their rules or you'll be out on the range.
All of the employees will be there too.
Watch out! They just might try to steal a gift from you!
A crackling fireplace on the big screen tv,
this party had it all that’s how the holidays should be.
Friends, fun and laughter, we...

Schnapps Stains
Thirty days
Twitchy edginess
f a d e s
Blackberry saturated
memories
linger
Like old friends
no longer seen
But the bottle remains
empty
A need to
self
medicate
Sits
High
up on the shelf
In the darker patch
Where dust
never touched
And sleep
comes ...

Thoughts
My eyes can’t help but dance
When they see you
Like looking out in a galaxy
Of innumerable wonders
Ten hundred thousand
Million stars, and more
Wondrous hues and iridescent images
Woven together so chaotically beautifully
And my mind cannot contain
All the good I hope for you
When I nibble your ear
I’m imagining new ways to thrill you
In body,
Heart,
And mind
When I can’t help but stare
At your bare belly
And you smirk gently when
I beg to kiss you there
I’m wandering through our future ...
When they see you
Like looking out in a galaxy
Of innumerable wonders
Ten hundred thousand
Million stars, and more

Woven together so chaotically beautifully
And my mind cannot contain
All the good I hope for you

Raised from the dead
Remove these stones
From my tomb
Gotta live my life
Outside of this womb
You can't keep me down
I'm putting up a fight
I refuse to play zombie
In your puppet life
I'm coming back
Better than before
With a brand new arsenal
To settle the score
No longer saddled by addiction
I refuse to lie in my made bed
Clean and sober
I'm raised from the dead
From my tomb
Gotta live my life
Outside of this womb
You can't keep me down
I'm putting up a fight
I refuse to play zombie
In your puppet life
I'm coming back

Clean and sober
I'm raised from the dead

Trouble
Why must I be accepted?
What is the power of being
Loved all about? The love of
Another is powerful, illuminating.
The fascination of another,
The touch of another, the kiss,
The souls coming together, as one,
Intoxicating, yet, dangerous when gone wrong.
Trouble ahead, trouble all around.
Love gone awry is the killing stroke.
The mind becomes aware of the pain,
The challenge that lies ahead.
Drowning the pain within a flask of liquid.
Allowing the sensation of invincibility flow
Through veins, just this...

Finally be free
I am what you want
I am what you need
Let go of this world
And fill yourself with me
Lonely and afraid
I'll take it away
Rejected and empty
Come fill yourself with me
You know you want me
You know you need me
Now give into those feelings
I'll take you away
I'll take you far far away
We'll leave this place
Just you and me
Our love can grow
And we'll finally be free
I am what you need
Let go of this world
And fill yourself with me
Lonely and afraid
I'll take it away
Rejected and empty
Come fill yourself with me
You know you want me
You know you need me
Now give into those feelings

Just you and me
Our love can grow
And we'll finally be free

Bar Life
Why yes, I can spare you a dime for that old jukebox
push B3 "I can help, I have two strong arms" Billy Swan sings
next to the doors labeled “Pointers” and “Setters”
while my little sister and I play on the stairs of this old bar
filled with swirling smoke and drunken men
watching the miniature elevator go up and down
hearing the pool balls smack as they race towards empty pockets
as we wait for our favorite candy bars and soda pop
from the bartender who is my grandmother laughing, smiling,
flirting with all the drunken men in...

bottlecap confessional...
I was never much of a drinker
a crazy ass lightweight...if I'm honest
a couple drinks in me & I'm a goner
the past few years though...
tipped my cup more than my norm
not proud...but also not ashamed
times were hard...it was what it was
still I maintained some semblance of restraint
I'll never be the life of the party
but if you get me drunk...
...there's more party in me
and I gotta tell ya...
give me a drink & I'm a livewire
mouth & veins all afire
sassy & horny in tandem
...if you can believe that......

Another Drink
Take a sip
On an empty stomach
Watch the world go by
And do nothing
Take a sip
Drown the noise out
From the outside in
And fix nothing
Take a sip
Then another
Til there's no one left
And be nothing
Take a sip
On an empty stomach
Watch the world go by
And do nothing
Take a sip
Drown the noise out
From the outside in
And fix nothing
Take a sip
Then another
Til there's no one left
And be nothing
Take a sip

The last Viking
Erik Bye was a writer, entertainer, TV personality, and easily, in the sixties and the seventies, the most popular man around.
He was born in New York to Norwegian parents who later went back to live there, while their son Erik went
back to the USA to finish his education.
On returning to Norway, he wrote a book about his experiences crisscrossing the USA.
The travel book was a best-seller in Scandinavia and

Too Late
It’s too late for that,
You can try and
Rewrite memory,
But you can never go back;
The bottle
Only goes so deep,
And the memories
Are here for keeps.

Rewrite memory,
But you can never go back;
The bottle
Only goes so deep,

The Shelf
I remember the times from my youth, a time when I had very few role models.
I grew belligerent, ignorant and uncouth;
As I was shown the value of liquor bottles.
Firsthand experience, I sadly held this coal.
Burned to the quick as it scorched my very soul.
This is no excuse for my actions, for every person isn’t the same.
Some can handle these liquids, but to think I could, I was insane.
I seen what it did to my father, I seen what it did to my mother.
