Perfectionism
From a young age
I was terrified
I would reach my full potential
And there would be nothing left of me
I was terrified
I would reach my full potential
And there would be nothing left of me

Shadow Dancing
I live with myself full-time
The perception of others
Is temporary, a pit stop
Dancing in shadows has ceased
How my life is interpreted
Is no longer my business
The perception of others
Is temporary, a pit stop
Dancing in shadows has ceased
How my life is interpreted
Is no longer my business

litte girl
talk to me little girl you've gone quiet
where do you hide when my soul can't find you
within my sacred sanctuary no one can harm you
death will not touch you I will take the pain on my back
soul child of time himself
forgive me sometimes I have to be fiersome
I will shield your eyes keeping the worst of it from you
you wonder where you came from
you are my soul's child
here are your birthcertificate and pictures of family
we are not from here
you will not be forced to take any one form
you will manifest where you like...

She Was Never Alone
She was seven.
A little Black girl in a world too heavy for her small frame,
Too sharp for her soft hands,
Too cruel for a heart that only wanted love.
She didn’t belong...at least, that’s what it felt like.
Floating through her own life, a ghost in her own skin,
Scared. Lost. Disconnected.
The nights swallowed her whole,
Darkness pressed against her like an unwanted touch.
The world wasn’t safe.
The monsters weren’t just under the bed.
They had keys to the front door.
Spoke in whispers when Mama wasn’t home.
Mama was always...

Hoods
Childhood
Winds may blow harshly
Roots persist beneath the storm
We remain ourselves.
Adulthood
Light on the horizon
Path unshadowed by others
I am my own guide.
Elderhood
In the mirror, strength
Reflection of courage true
Voice of liberty.

Book's
I told him, take it all—
Just give me my books,
My refuge, my solace, my world.
Turning each page, tuning out the noise,
It’s just me and Bukowski’s words for the night.
While others sing nursery rhymes,
I read Poe to my children.
I thought it vital that they, too,
Could quote the verses that stir the soul—
To fall deep into the poetry,
Let it seep into their hearts.
When I read, I am whole,
But you, you called it an addiction.
Of all the cravings I could possess,
Books are the only...

Grace .
When you are at your weakest that is when
you need to be superwoman or superman
and battle away .
One day you don’t feel so bad and that’s coz
you tried . I think people are mostly magic ✨for being who they are . Life can be hard and most times nobody says how they feel.
I mean you don’t want to be the odd one .
Life can be pretending yes I am fine . You got your
pink pop lipstick on or your precious jewels but you
can’t smile and mean it .
We are all bloody mad if you ask me some of the time .
