She Was Never Alone
She was seven.
A little Black girl in a world too heavy for her small frame,
Too sharp for her soft hands,
Too cruel for a heart that only wanted love.
She didn’t belong...at least, that’s what it felt like.
Floating through her own life, a ghost in her own skin,
Scared. Lost. Disconnected.
The nights swallowed her whole,
Darkness pressed against her like an unwanted touch.
The world wasn’t safe.
The monsters weren’t just under the bed.
They had keys to the front door.
Spoke in whispers when Mama wasn’t home.

I’m just a little child,
Here for only a few years,
Yet it feels like lifetimes of duality,
Bullied and broken by the one who is a gift.
I’m just human.
Sometimes I wear masks
To blend with the stars,
But my energy is too violent.
I guess I'll collapse into a black hole.
I’m not human.
To be human is to be among humans,
But my mind struggles to cope with them,
The ones who dragged my soul through torment,
Stripping me bare and leaving me cold,
A shadow by the roadside, unseen.
No one stops to offer a jacket, ...

I had a good man once... but,
I lost him in the battle of to save him,
From the darker parts of the light he held in his eyes,
The parts that twist and coil within me.
And Lord knows I tried,
Tried to patch up and piece together,
The fragments of my wild heart,
And silence the shadows that whisper in the dead of night,

To the river, forest and mountain
To the route i ever take,
Winding pathways, daily trodden
And where the herds hit the road
When dawn slowly begins to heave

The No Bullshit Way to Being Positive
It's a dance for sure- the difference between ignoring your negative emotions unhealthily and facing them head on with authenticity and sincerity. Returning on a jet plane...
(Paul Harvey used to give "...the rest of the story" on the radio. The same radio played songs that gave us a glimpse into song character's lives but are never revisited! “From The Ashes” - My Take
As a Survivor, I can tell you without hesitation there is no such thing as “greater damage” or “worse pain.” If you are a Survivor, your experience, or a series of events, was painful enough to damage you in unimaginable ways. I don’t need to hear what the trauma was, it’s never insignificant if it alters your reality in some measurable fashion. All you need to tell me is“I’m a survivor” and I will know what it means to you. What it means to me. No details required. I’ve also never had another Survivor ask me for the details of my own personal experiences. I don’t waste time comparing notes....

I May Be That Girl
I may be that disabled girl who's so sick she cannot work a normal job, but she's the artist that will save so many lives. She's the artist who knows that her art will heal herself in a way a normal job can't.
I may be that girl who was rarely ever chosen, rarely ever picked, but I know now that I will let love find me. I need many years alone. But I'm a caring individual who won't beg for love; I will things happen the way they're supposed to.
