Stranger
Inquiry of questions interrogations in my head
Yesterday a revolving door in paradox of philosophical repose
For all the things I wish I never said
The mystery of the history of all the things that no one knows
I am a stranger to myself gradually learning as I go
Who I am in this experience to discover why
Every choice I make is another revelation of getting to know
Self, in all the tangles unraveling, until the day I die
Mystery in the mirror, mirror
How do I believe the best
When so much of what I’ve done doesn’t square
When...

To Map out Infinity
Pondering under punctures of the infinity,
Pinholes, the other side twinkling through
Atop my roof, where visits oft add salinity
Tonight, alone, I plan for what I wish I knew
In present, past trends now cease extending
I'm left to wander about, mapping out infinity
Tightroping, I wobble to futures impending
Pray the ground be closer, by His divinity
Should the rope snap, I fall to path below
Please guide my feet to night's stars aglow
Pinholes, the other side twinkling through
Atop my roof, where visits oft add salinity
Tonight, alone, I plan for what I wish I knew
In present, past trends now cease extending
I'm left to wander about, mapping out infinity

Let Others Help
We can’t do it all alone
It’s a human trait to feel tired and sometimes overwhelmed
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness
But it’s a characteristic that allows us to be truthful and real
Too many times do people let their pride get in the way
As if for some reason they think that they’ve failed
Letting other help is a sign of strength
Not just in character
But it can be a collaborative effort with another human being
It’s ok to ask for advice
Gathering ideas and sharing in thoughts
Getting different opinions and views can...

REFLECTION (mid 1990's, Galveston Island, Texas)
look broadly at the big mirror
see the big picture reflected there
do you see and feel only darkness and fear
or do you feel and see love
joy hope beauty and wonder
looking back out at you instead
quick
look around
and behind the big mirror again
do you still see love
at some point the big mirror will break
shattering into a thousand other
individually reflective pieces
where you will still see and be left
with only yourself and the big picture
in your mind and quickened senses
and hopefully love
joy hope...

Push Ahead, Don't Pull Back
Looking back towards me
You should see that I moved forth
You can make that change
You should see that I moved forth
You can make that change

Purple Rose
There is a purple rose
in a field of red
Commands more attention
than those ever said.
There have been
Songs
Poems
Lyrics
And letters
of the red rose
My heart bleeds
for the purple instead.
I know how it feels
To be alone
Blooming in a field
that’s overgrown.
Are they blind
Can they not see
The purple rose
Is here
See
Still, no one knew
I called and cried
“HERE I AM”
No one hears the tears inside.
So I stand tall
Back erect
Eyes to the sky
Watching...
in a field of red
Commands more attention

My Heart Is A Bonfire
I voyage onward
Somewhere between the wreckage and the destination
Trying to decipher it all in the analytics of a fractured observation
Overshadowed by the light of days coinciding
The thunder of these moments, memories fighting
Trying to find my spotlight in the sun
Get me over my self
When the heart beat is heavy for ego driven reflections
In these broken record serenades of acceptance cravings for the damages of rejections
My thoughts betray me to heartache
Overdosing on overrated highs
There’s blood on my hands...

Get Out Of My Way
Chances for success,
not gone.
Peace of mind, still achievable.
True love, still waiting in the wings.
What prevents these
heartfelt fantasies
from becoming
tangible realities?
Under whose thumb
am I opressed?
Someone who, ostensibly
knows me best.
One who constantly
pierces me
with arrows of insecurity.
Convinces me
that no one could
ever truly love me
with my life
in such a mess.
Tells me when
I see my reflection
that mirrors don't lie.
You'll never be
fit, or...
not gone.

Enamored by the Façade
Maybe it was the inexperience of youth
That sometimes clouded my judgement
When I was enamored by the façade of what’s on the outside
I seemed to lack prudence and discernment
Yes it was love without a solid foundation
Lust sometimes tends heighten emotions without perception
And as the years passed I felt a disconnection
Unable to see the truth I too fell into a deception
But I wouldn’t listen to my intuition
I didn’t see what others saw for the sake of my enormous pride
And by the time I saw it I was too far in
Then I had...

Dramatis Personae
Raised on movies and TV
Taught to type cast.
memorizing mannerisms,
tonality of speech, general bearing
of numberless character actors,
and stars in
the celluloid firmament
Knowing beforehand
who will be cast
as a kind or mean
mom or dad.
Who will play the role
of the corrupt or honest
cop or politician.
who is evil as Hitler,
good as Mr. Rogers
in his mythical neighborhood.
who done it, who didn't
~spoiler alert~
In the ubiquitous,
oh so enjoyable,
murder mystery,
