Poetry,
how can poetry be quantified
when anyone who writes,
when read, means something different

Every Woman Wants
Every woman wants to hear the words
which remind her that she is desired and appreciated
It is these words
which awaken and arouse her sexuality
and strengthen her loyalty
Every man in love finds these words
and learns to speak them to her
with his every waking breath
which remind her that she is desired and appreciated
It is these words

and strengthen her loyalty
Every man in love finds these words
and learns to speak them to her
with his every waking breath

Spicy POV
Everybody coats
themselves in
sugar & nice
but there are some
who were made to
be spicy, defiant
& non compliant,
I know what kind
gets branded in
iron as villains
because I am
one of them,
instead I let
this lesson
turn into a
superpower.

When in Rome...
Some years ago, a child was born
one April, just before the dawn.
She had huge eyes of navy blue;
her hair: a rusty, reddish hue.
She grew up with a thirst for knowledge
(not just the type you'd learn in college)—
numbers, silly signs, world weather;
puzzles, both absurd and clever.
A woodwind teacher by profession,
she also had in her possession
ocarina, fife, trombone,
piano, Xaphoon, xylophone!
Now, to find her year of birth,
you have the clues, for what that's worth.
You need twelve...

In Plain Sight
On holiday in Lisbon, going round the zoo,
I suddenly remembered that I had a job to do.
I had to write with some aplomb, as soon as I could;
with so much going on, gracious me would it be good?!
Well, I'd already had rum, so while I sat down to think,
I ordered ravioli, nicely washed down with more drink.
It was an urban joke, being so very sleep-deprived;
Inspiration really lagged, but regardless, it arrived.
To finish this, I had to have a stab, late at night.
When my phone began to buzz, it heralded the light.
Although my work...

It doesn't add up!
There's a topsy-turvy place
where time runs backwards,
numbers aren't what they seem;
logical rules apply,
but not the logic we're used to.
There's a wonderful place
where I've just aged backwards
because forty-seven is less than forty-six.
Nothing is something,
zero is bigger than one million,
yet the best gift
turns out to be worthless.
In this place,
women are valued more highly than men,
but children are valued most of all.
The greatest rewards
come from working with those that seem,
on first...
