In The Beginning
There was a Universal Shroud of Turin
a Matrix of crumbed vertebrate
stained with light and debris:
webbed particles
multicellular life
a mycelium
of unsolved mystery
plaguing humankind with a gravity
they were determined to defy
13.8 billion years of expansion
trillions of galaxies and stars
beyond their comprehension
ungrounded contentment
and magnified desire
Bridges of technological design
are manufactured—
fueled by resources
meant to sustain Life ...

Thirty Pieces of Silver
For this
paltry sum
I’d throw
away
my
morality.
Is this, truly, who I am?
I ponder
the query
hoping not
but…
The sun
shines
brightly
as if oblivious
to my
deliberately
delicate
mental debate.
Turning a corner,
the dawning
of a new vision
sheds clarity
on an old
desire.
Yet,
the heart
pounds
stronger
for what
it’s been
denied.
Plucking
daisy petals

Finding (the holy grail of) Love
love...
is known
within you
a delicate feeling
fragile yet strong
beating pulsing alive
with true hope
knowing such
deep emotion
more rare

kings knights
searched for it
died never discovering
its resting place
this holy grail
beckons all who seek
but i see
have discovered
love's destiny
forged by fire
seared deeply in blue eyes

National Poetry Writing Month
I wish I could say
I built a solid habit,
consistency each day
devoted to writing and quiet,
and that I’ll maintain
the pattern from now on.
But sadly, creativity
is still regarded as
lack of productivity--
putting off Important Things,
a guilty stealth-activity
done when others aren’t looking.
So I wrote 30 poems
but life is the same;
despite my commitment
it’s still hard to proclaim
that this is a priority,
and I won’t feel shame
about duties undone
or sleep lost,
because creating...

A Lament of Hope
She sleeps … like in some other kind of form
she weeps even at the gentlest touch, fragile
as if her world tried to give birth
but such effort comes to nothing done
On a mundane Sunday morning
flattened at the altar of cut trees
I wonder what the padres truly think
strangely dressed as they are in kevlar
incense rising from their chainsaws —
they scatter beliefs across the congregation
who watch nations sink further in deep psychosis
During this war of attrition
Mother Earth turns over, maybe in despair, ...
