[ NaPo 2017 ] [ SK ] He We Go Again
Uh-oh, here I go
down the rabbit hole
I've a very important date
n I'ma runnin late
Comes a time in everyone's life
when stars are wished upon
for a second chance
Now driving a vintage car
brand spanking new
same as the Lady friend
I've taken to
the high school dance
but I ain't here for kindling
long ago romance
or to make a fortune on sure bets
but you can bet your ass
I'll be making a...

The clouds flow brazen with the wind of sighs
To constant seek the one who calls for them
By names that last beyond their perishing
And leaves their seasons scented with the earth
While far below the life of air-bound song
I stand before the dawn with covered eyes
To open mouth to imitate her creed
In hopes the goddess of the morning rise
Will cast upon, assuage this subject, bowed
And give me peace that she will soon return.

CYCLE I: EARTH
From highest lands to Mother’s lap, the Way
Is found, Her flats in wheat straw tendrils spread,
Which slightest breath in subtle wave-forms play,
From muddied banks to canyon towers’ edge.
And with Her Springs and storms Her floods may come,
Still time’s progress brings verdant life arise.
In pounding of their weight, the stampede's drum,
They split the rows like Nature's force realized.
In air here scented sweet, filled hot they run,
It’s in this lush, where mighty tracks are found,
And here where mighty...

[ NaPo 2017 ] For The Love Of Art
It's not something a guy can really control
Especially when he disrobes
baring it all for the woman
he just met in art class
not too long ago
Mouth salivating
she takes it all in;
between her lips
a pencil, clenched
ready to be put to work
upon the next blank page
her sketchbook is turned to
but eyebrows furrow further
as she fixates on the other
member of our modeling duo
shying away from her gaze
Less than a few ruler lengths
stand between desire to...

[ NaPo 2017 ] That Being Said
You often pout about
the life you could have led
but for all the waterworks
we've watched you shed
over the years, not a single
crimson drop was ever bled
to mix in with those tears
That being said
See you in a couple of years
Have yourself a life that's nice
Don't let the door hit you in the ass
on your way out
Come back when you've stopped
capitalizing on everyone's fears
and learned the meaning of the word
sacrifice
the life you could have led
but for all the waterworks
we've watched you shed
over the years, not a single
crimson drop was ever bled
to mix in with those tears
That being said
See you in a couple of years
Have yourself a life that's nice

CYCLE I: EARTH
Between your furrowed walls guide graceful streams,
In paths of long filled lines and bending curves,
From mountain’s tip that’s licked to stormy reams
And springs that Valleys’ well, your river serves.
Tween rim and rim your vales in subtle Vees
Extend above the soft bed’s banking shores,
Where Mother’s life came forth to fill the seas.
Where men have delved, her mysteries explore.
And slow the waters flow ‘til cataracts
And rapids’ thrill like slickened fingers rend.
Then do your flowings rush through...

CYCLE I: EARTH
From mountain peaks to lowlands grassy spurs
Does Mother’s slow progression ever seek.
Throughout our day, does night progress with her;
E’en so with night, does light not ever peek.
With rigor moves in seeming never rest,
Yet every slip in harmony perform.
Is all reclaimed as smallest part attests,
And though it pass is every speck reborn.
But Man adjusts Her way to suit his own,
And pares Her life to take more than His due.
For always has He stripped Her, flesh from bone,
His poison with Her sacred...

[ NaPo 2017 ] Alphabet Souped
There it is floating before me
yet on the tip of my tongue
I swallow the information whole
Hope floats in a milk carton-ed
sort of poem form as the chaotic
slew of letters in frothy foam
assemble into word semblance
Rain Man I am, gifted
or is it a curse?
for lack of a better term
---hexed, seeing verse
hidden in blocks of text
making the most of the most
important meal of the day
turning a bowl of cereal
surreal ...

[ NaPo 2017 ] Dialectable
Words are especially scrumptious
when puncturing virgin eardrums
audible ice picks interrupting your
doldrums
Not only does she use a sawed off shotgun
to blow my mind with shells unheard of
she does so in that killer accent
I so badly want to slurp her
long running sentences and
die of food poisoning from the
Indian cuisine she serves---
pelvic bone set to vibrate mode
whenever she publicly recites poetry

doldrums

Apple Honey
Today, though I didn't expect,
He gave me a photo he took
Of a bee in a blossoming tree
Among white spring blooms everywhere.
And said to me so gallantly
He'd bring apple honey one day.
And so in my mind came alive
When I used to turn countrified.
It instantly had me think of
When I'd drive to Charlie Brown Farms
On Pearblossom Highway afar
In Little Rock, Antelope Valle.
Where this time of year in the...

CYCLE II: FIRE
A dark so dense where light cannot survive.
In stillness found, before the stars were born.
If single chance or several times revive,
With all that ever was, precogent form.
In peace did It reside, before gave space.
For time had not been given even thought,
For none yet knew, Its resting without place.
And nothing was for no thing yet had brought.
Perhaps It was too concert to not be?
Was It perhaps too lonely for Its own?
Perhaps in turning inside out to see,
It found Its way that all Itself be...

[ NaPo 2017 ] Beyond The Looking Glassed
I'm not here to tell you what to do
what you should be writing or
who it should be written for
I'm just mirages in the distance
giving you glimpsed instance of potential
---a host of holographic existential examples
illustrating the endless possibilities
Imitation's the name of the game
See beyond that person you insist you are
within the confining limitations of the mirror
Whenever you find yourself framed
in a display case, the only way to be
free of your old self is to...
