Art is about building a new foundation, not just laying something on top of what's already there.

We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated.

I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self.

Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.

The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along. ...

Grapes
As I coast down the road,
The temperature says it's 102 degrees outside,
Blasting my music and the A.C.,
It's a nice drive.
But then I notice the fields,
They're out there picking grapes,
In the blistering heat.
I look in the mirror,
At my brown face,
Thinking I was given the opportunity
to get an education,
to find a comfortable life,
Yet those migrant workers
Out there earning a living
Must have dreams and aspirations of their own,
To give their daughters and sons a chance.

Straight Talk Live (Me, Myself, And I)
Intellect have always been a friend, a sorceress of my mind
I would say I am a pretty great judgment of character and an extraordinaire when it cums to my soft sublime
Neven been on the scavenge to hunt, I am the beautiful sacred curiosity of the tease
I can make the tenderest love to your mind, poetically whisper in your ear, submerging it intellectually until you become the mingled words I taste on the tip of my tongue as my heart shall appease

Sacred Whispers To Archangel Michael... (An Earth Angel)
Green pasture as thy comfort the French Creole Angel’s scepter of me
As you can feel, touch, see
And will come to believe
And that’s just a grand fact
My halo, my mystique of my human spirit, Heaven’s compassion given of this Earth Angel laying, or resting on my back
Welcome to the comfort of my wings
As an Earthbound Angel passionately whispers when she sings
Selah

Me...
Labored breaths of just you and I
Allow me to absorb you
The soft touches of reflexology’s tantalizations branding his skin
Oh, my love, let the curl of my tongue’s soothing bliss
Journey over the soles of his feet
Taking pleasure between the spaces of his toes
Aimlessly wandering up his inner thighs
Tenderly arousing all his sensitive peaks
His erroneous zone weakening for the overtaking
Let me blindfold you, and watch you get stimulated, by anticipation, by sight unseen
Mm... oh yes, those coaxing...

By Any Means Necessary (Happy Birthday Martin Luther King, Jr.)
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Mama, I know why the caged bird really sings
When the mind as an offering hears sovereignty echoed from the mountains let it ring
From the cradle of birth is to give authority to our mental dreams
Our deferred aspirations we seek to the highest of our esteem
How can I learn to fly when my heart cannot even walk
Animosity, resentment is always found in wagging tongues who doesn’t know how to intellectually talk...

Perspectives in Freedom
What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend,
it ceases to exist."
- Salman Rushdie
"Speak, or be unheard,
open your mind or be confined.
You have so much to say
don't let self doubt take it away.
Open minds and hearts are listening
and they can affirm what is humanity
expressing and being itself in you
opinions aren't right or wrong, just unique;
it is bravery in action to shout in your
true voice as a lion would roar

Dreams That Matter
Love costs all we are and will ever be,,
yet it is only love which sets us free'
-Maya Angelou
I still got faith in some new day,
Lawd, don't take my hopes away.
If rings and curls and pink on little girls
make fierce boys scare them into whirls,
let us stay all laughing, all the same,
we and they are all the same.
Us, we're no better than the next big thing;
a song that's all the same, we sing.
Unsilenced, our exuberant song
of hope that tomorrow will be as bright
as today, or...

That Place
History, despite its wrenching pain cannot be unlived,
but if faced with courage need not be lived again.”
― Maya Angelou
I took a giant step backwards today
into my past, I thought I had left it behind.
I remembered the sting, the smart of rejection,
of hatred, of shame;
I heard it calling my name
in my dead ascendants voice,
calling from far away,
calling me back to pain
of dying in agony.
The pain I hid from,
never wanted to feel again,
I was brought...

Demand me nothing. What you know, you know.
This is not because of a pandemic that discrimination is rearing its ugly head again
It was there all along under the surface in subtle and explicit ways
The opportune time and convenience is for the discriminator to hide behind an illness
Europeans and their descendants who are inhabitants of their pale skin the world over
Always find ways to elevate their supremacy above all others
Fascist feelings and attitudes married with other forms of racist attitudes
Never seem to be evicted and there is always a home for this vagabond
In the heart of those with deep...
