The Pistolphiles
" But Jesus said, Suffer little children,
forbid them not, to come unto me:
for of such is the kingdom of heaven "
not hasten their deaths with guns, can't you see,
In mass gun-death sites, of kids, to clean the gore,
they've to bring in specialised cleaning folks
to scrape the walls, ceilings, furniture and floors,
schoolrooms and malls turned into abattoirs, no joke.
Who champions such things, who lets it begin
those who allow carry and concealed carry? In my eyes
there's thousands of you, brainwashed to this...

The Night Before
You pay attention long enough
keep your ears open
and mouth shut
there will be truths
that haunt you
as ghosts
You’ll be in a grocery store
or a social gathering
and such a truth emerges
wrapping around your ear canal
until the tunnel of listening
begins to close
No one you know
will be able to reach
the deepest chamber of your heart
sitting amid all that silence
She leans over and says
"Such a shame, isn’t it?
But you know
it’s not the gun’s fault ...
keep your ears open

I’m at a loss for words
When wings are given to such beautiful young birds
In remembrance of hearing their laughter, footsteps echoed in the wind
Kindred hearts, unfulfilled dreams, aspirations, with no time to defend
The mind of Satan so freely roams
Invading subways, supermarkets, schools, and even citizens’ homes
Parents, loved ones must share in the crying of tragedy’s feast

Machine Guns in the Park
I love my new park
It has two half basketball courts.
A lake.
A wide u-shaped fountain,
where one can sit on benches
comforted by the sound
of rivulets of water cascading down stone.
That is as long as one isn't interrupted by the staccato of machine gun fire
Fake is better than the real thing.
Far, far better.
But a plastic machine gun
complete with real sound effects! (sans the tortured, terrorized screams of innocent people- maybe that costs extra)
in the hands of a four year old
is disconcerting. ...
