In The Shroud Of Chaos
I’m at a loss for words
When wings are given to such beautiful young birds
In remembrance of hearing their laughter, footsteps echoed in the wind
Kindred hearts, unfulfilled dreams, aspirations, with no time to defend
The mind of Satan so freely roams
Invading subways, supermarkets, schools, and even citizens’ homes
Parents, loved ones must share in the crying of tragedy’s feast
Absence of a presence to share only hushed memories in the humbling greet
Is this God’s plan the slaughter of...

Armed To The Teeth
In a world awash with weapons, the fearsome parade,
Armed to the teeth, our society's charade.
With a Glock 17 in hand, some say they're safe,
But in this arsenal, we tread on perilous waif.
The Smith & Wesson M&P Shield gleams in the night,
A shield for some, a menace for others' plight.
The Colt M1911, a relic of the past,
In our modern world, a shadow it casts.
The Remington 870, a shotgun's embrace,
Power in every shell, in the wrong hands, a disgrace.
The AK-47, a symbol of strife,
In conflict and turmoil, it...

On a Tuesday morning in a tenth-grade math class, Sally smiled and held her paper up to her friend Jenny. Jenny gave her a thumbs up, pleased that she'd helped her friend overcome fear of math.
As the two of them shared this moment of elation, one of their classmates entered the room. The scrap of desks on the floor and screams filled the air, but Sally didn’t hear. no more dolls
no more toys

by middle school
childhood is not just gone
its obliterated
an eighth grader
brought a gun to school
he's showing his friends
one of his besties
gets to hold the clip
this goes on
for three days
finally a student reports it
a week ago:
a lockdown
close to two hours
note in the high school boys bathroom:
"I'm going to shoot up the school"

it was the immaculate conception
inconceivable as it was
me being birthed from the womb
of man's ideology
motherless
never nurtured from the essence of her femininity
an umbilical cord just a figment of
my sentimental imagination
I arrive as a prophet in my own right
and though i have not walked on water
