The Night Before
You pay attention long enough
keep your ears open
and mouth shut
there will be truths
that haunt you
as ghosts
You’ll be in a grocery store
or a social gathering
and such a truth emerges
wrapping around your ear canal
until the tunnel of listening
begins to close
No one you know
will be able to reach
the deepest chamber of your heart
sitting amid all that silence
She leans over and says
"Such a shame, isn’t it?
But you know
it’s not the gun’s fault ...
keep your ears open
and mouth shut
there will be truths
that haunt you
as ghosts
You’ll be in a grocery store
or a social gathering
and such a truth emerges
wrapping around your ear canal
until the tunnel of listening
begins to close
No one you know
will be able to reach
the deepest chamber of your heart
sitting amid all that silence
She leans over and says
"Such a shame, isn’t it?

In The Shroud Of Chaos
I’m at a loss for words
When wings are given to such beautiful young birds
In remembrance of hearing their laughter, footsteps echoed in the wind
Kindred hearts, unfulfilled dreams, aspirations, with no time to defend
The mind of Satan so freely roams
Invading subways, supermarkets, schools, and even citizens’ homes
Parents, loved ones must share in the crying of tragedy’s feast
Absence of a presence to share only hushed memories in the humbling greet
Is this God’s plan the slaughter of...

Armed To The Teeth
In a world awash with weapons, the fearsome parade,
Armed to the teeth, our society's charade.
With a Glock 17 in hand, some say they're safe,
But in this arsenal, we tread on perilous waif.
The Smith & Wesson M&P Shield gleams in the night,
A shield for some, a menace for others' plight.
The Colt M1911, a relic of the past,
In our modern world, a shadow it casts.
The Remington 870, a shotgun's embrace,
Power in every shell, in the wrong hands, a disgrace.
The AK-47, a symbol of strife,
In conflict and turmoil, it...

Loss
On a Tuesday morning in a tenth-grade math class, Sally smiled and held her paper up to her friend Jenny. Jenny gave her a thumbs up, pleased that she'd helped her friend overcome fear of math.
As the two of them shared this moment of elation, one of their classmates entered the room. The scrap of desks on the floor and screams filled the air, but Sally didn’t hear. She sat transfixed by the instrument of war pointed at her chest. She thought the boy was a friend, but today, she didn’t know his face.
Sally said, “Please wait.” She didn't recognize her...

Prophecy Of The Gun
it was the immaculate conception
inconceivable as it was
me being birthed from the womb
of man's ideology
motherless
never nurtured from the essence of her femininity
an umbilical cord just a figment of
my sentimental imagination
I arrive as a prophet in my own right
and though i have not walked on water
I have ceremoniously baptized countless
in pools of their own blood
for I am the axis upon which
fear and love...

The Revenge of Atom
Eurydice, nicknamed Dizzy, was growing concerned about Edward. He was her son with David Wallace, a successful music producer in Los Angeles whose parents had operated a renowned chain of restaurants. And Dizzy herself was the daughter of a media giant and a minor aristocrat, so what infernal circumstances might have befallen young Edward, a physically and mentally healthy lad of 10 who lived most of the year not a stone’s throw from Hyde Park, were a little obscure.
But Dizzy was a sensitive woman who saw the petty cruelties of existence everywhere, from the checkout girl who gave...

Father, Can You Hear Me...
In memory of mass shootings that has gripped our society
As a new day approach
The sun no longer provides warm to a storm that has set in
Tears falling heavily as the subconscious of reality will soon begin
A presence from birth, now gone too soon
I give you the stars I gave you the moon
There are tears in silent remembrance today
Words of comfort I give to you, when I do not know the right words to say
On my knees as I pray
Daily grief not to hinder your way
Keep your faith never to betray
I...

I’m Running With The Wind
I could ever imagine
Me with one with the wind
Feeling good the sweat dripping down my skin
Knowing that this is where the hunger to run all begins
Running faster and faster
Mmm… tasting that accumulation
Oh, the sweetest jubilation
I am me and the wind beneath my feet
Is the feeling that God bequeaths
I’m running for my life
All the world problems are behind its strife
Hands moving, feet moving
Music to my ears
I am one with the wind
I am grooving I see a truck up ahead ...
Me with one with the wind
Feeling good the sweat dripping down my skin
Knowing that this is where the hunger to run all begins
Running faster and faster
Mmm… tasting that accumulation

"Dead, Here I Lay"
May seventh, eighth, and nineth twenty-twenty-one
Blood-and-bullet-bathed weekend
Four hundred plus injured or killed by guns
When are we going to be done?!
Mr. Speaker of the United States Caucasus,
We are the Huddled Masses
Of bullet-riddled carcasses
Laid down by gun violence
Do you see me standing there?
Do my cries echo and ring in your ear?
Do you smell the freshness of my breath?
Are you aware you have the power to wash it all away?
It was just an ordinary day
Now, my famous last words:
"Dead,...
