And The World Is Still Turning

Never will there be a teacher, parent or loved one
not courting the ability to "hold infinities
in the palm of a hand"

For the desire is to impart knowledge to the youth
gentle guidance as waters grow troubled and cold
yet mistakes will be made
for vitality's essence makes them ever so bold

"You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good bye."

Do away with those false idols
who love to mess with the heads
the path they guide people down
would make them better off dead

"Don't believe that rock 'n' roll
Can really change the world
As it spins in revolution
It spirals and turns
I...I believe in love"

Should we really have faith in the Constitution
to save our less than angelic souls
shall we count the groups done wrong by it
that have been raked over the coals

Like the fervor over terrorism
payback and all, nationalistic jeers
Native Americans forced from a homeland
dealing with that Trail of Tears

Government misleads and keeps truth from the people
leaders with titles say they know what's best
would they still be office
if the masses knew what a mess
was created in their name
on the tv we hear all their junk
find me the key so we can lock them in a trunk

Non privileged class taken ever further out to sea
some traced it back to the invention of
private property

Others claim the industrial revolution
things then could be made in mass
even if they aren't needed
and these days none are made to last

"Soon you will be dancing face-to-face
With the limits of ambition and the scars of the marketplace
Welcome to the land of flame and fizz
Where you will learn that packaging is all that heaven is"

Take your Reagans, Obamas and Kennedys
CIA doesn't play by the rules they state
clandestine operations thrashing civilian life
another reason why justice must wait

"Nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love"
