It started with a shitty poem

(Comp poem)

'Demon Voices' I believe it was.
Forced rhymes and the same tired metaphors
of any novice poet finding their bearings.
He was just a comment on a site I rarely visited,
quoting the line that had peeked his fancy.
Simply a cyberspace speck of trifled complements
on a poem I had poured my soul into yet demised.

It didn't take long to log in and see the pm
I would ignore for quite some time.
The whole social aspect of DU was foreign to me,
and I had assumed the comment I was accustomed
to reading had suddenly morphed into an internet stalker.

Eventually, curiosity festered into my mind like a cockroach;
A plaque creeping into the darkest recesses of the cerebrum.
So, naturally, I read the message.
It was a request to do a collaboration.
And damn, the web we wove within that piece was brilliant.
Sex, violence, and serial killer romance.
Two writers on the same wave length in perfect sync.

Poetry found a new light in my eyes with him,
wreaking an unhealthy obsession and provoking
the wicked desire to write with taunting sodomy tounges.
There was a certain attraction to disgust that
he brought out of me in the way
he chose to present things.
Over time becoming one if my favorite people and
someone to confide in with an intriguing view point.
A sweet man with a sick perception that I adored.

Untill he disappeared one day.
Shortly after, I was informed he had passed away.
In a very untimely accident I might add.
DU never was, or will be, the same without him.

I can't help but look back and find the crude humor
in that first impression of ThorneTheRed;
the cyberspace speck of trifled complements.
How he went from a nothing into the reason I love writing.
I also can't help but wonder what he would think
of the vastly different poetry I now write;
if he would enjoy the new style I adopted
after abandoning most of my immature scorn.

I guess you could say it started with a shitty poem
and a lack of interest in a person I unfairly judged,
but it ended in a personal bond I will always cherish
and a comparatively shitty poem that's hardly a poem at all.
