The Journey

There are always two paths in life's journey,
A journey best not traveled alone,
As I write,
The words illuminate the path,
That my heart has always seen.

It is by choice,
For the years have thought me well,
When matters of love are concerned,
Listen not to my head,
For it knows not love.

The path to choose,
Is the one that the heart beats for,
The path filled with obstacles,
The path where the end is not seen,
The path where the journey and love are one in the same.

I walk this path,
For I now know where it takes me,
The question that remains,
Is if or when we will walk it together.

I cannot ask you to walk with me,
For love need not be asked,
I cannot ask you to choose,
For that is a battle between your heart and your mind.

But know this...

Whatever your choice, even if there is no choice,
Rejected you will never be,
Alone you will never feel,
For what is written is not the matter,
Only that these words be read together.
