From Afar

Looking across
the horizon line,
I see an odalisque.

Her shape
and nape
and cape
at rest
her sense of timing
very best
the lack of motion
in her gate
the open question
still to sate
will this be
my non-novate,
her newness now
forever new?

Into her eyes
my lost disguise
my feelings
oh and bold,
across the scene
to smithereens
are broken every mold.
