Stand on This Spot

You can have my body
if you'll fuck my mind.
What turns me on is conversation,
raw, naked, understanding,
and working through
the heavy emotional shit
of the stuff we pack away in our lives.

I like to work on my emotions
and learn how to creatively
work around and through my tough feelings
and the things that have hurt me in the past.

I am not turned on by confrontation,
anger, animosity
or destructive threatening turmoil.

I don’t need someone
to kiss my ass
and agree with everything I say,
but I do need for others
to stand their ground
and believe in themselves.

Everything that someone says
goes in one ear
and in the other ear with me.  

I really listen.  It's a problem
I have had since I was a kid.
I have honestly tried
to work through this.  
I have yet to find anything
more important
than understanding
and working through things
and learning to see the entire context
and then living
with the compromises
that arise from working
through things.  

This is really difficult
for those who want to
hold a grudge
or play head games
or take up an offense
or try to manipulate me.

If you want to be right here,
then stop running away.  
If you want to be friends,
then act friendly.
If you want to be loving
and intimate,
then don't come at me
with some shroud
of anxiety
that is meant to maneuver me
into pity or submission
or my being seduced
into being other
than my true self.

If you are insecure
about being yourself,
I can work through that with you.  

If you have a heart ache
that is a load stone,
let's get the cards out
on the table.  

If your sense of well-being
has taken a beating,
then I am a gentle
and listening ear.  

I won't force it out of you
and I have all the time in the world.  

However you communicate,
I will respond in my own way;
whatever you want to say,
say and leave it on the table.

IF you want to talk sex,
do it with everything you've got
and then let it be what you said.

If it moves me,
you'll know about it.

If you want to talk politics,
state your case and then
let it stand on its own two feet.

If you have a religious
dogma, concept, fixation, or
pre-occupation, I will listen
and respond to it
from my own center.

In any case,
do not try to use broken questions
to get to my heart.

If you were using the right key,
believe me,
you would have easily
opened it by now.  

There is nothing standing
in the way
but the same tired old games
that have failed to work
over and over.
