i wrote this originally as a song inspired by a guy that i met a few years ago. it's been a while since i wrote the song too. i was never in love with him, but i did think that he was an interesting character.

Sammy is a phenomenon
Sammy is a dope
Sammy is a moron
Taking another toke

Sammy is my hero
Sammy's my best friend
But Sammy does the same shit

Sammy lost all hope
Sammy got very sick
Sammy liked men,
But he didn't like dick

Sammy has grown
Sammy needed a loan
Now I miss Sammy
Because he left his home

Sammy had a girl
He treated her like shit
Sammy wouldn't recommit
So suddenly they split

Sammy played guitar
He had a gig at a local bar
Sammy wanted to be a star
But Sammy wasn't up to par

He burned down the theatre
He caused a commotion at Lou's
He whipped out the powder
And wasn't feeling so blue


Now Sammy can't yell
Sammy can't scream
Sammy can't sing
Sammy can't do a goddamn thing

He is a cashier in a store
He's the musician in a sleazy bar
He's the comedian lying on the floor
He is the man in black
He's the reason you should watch your back
