Sleep

Take a pill, take two, take them all
Sleep escapes me, overloads me
I’m tired of thinking, tired of being
Eyes red rimmed crusty and bleary
Dried out husk full of memories
Reflection on the lens all speckled with dust
No more tears to blink the pain away
Mind in slow motion as the world races by
Time is irrelevant to me now, tick tick
Laying down head on cool pillow
Count the nightmares instead of sheep
