The Sea of Glass
Staring into a sea of glass,
I see naught but tears and fears from memories past:
Falling from the porch and splitting my skull,
In surgery with pain not dull,
I kicked at the nurse and made her fall upon her ass,
Just one scene in the sea of glass.
Betrayed by a friend with his family in masks,
Huddled in a closet while they prepared for evil tasks,
Springing free - I ran so fast,
Another scene in the sea of glass.
Cut and scratched until the expelling of blood,
Running down the body like a flood,
Death had almost come to pass,
I can see it still in the sea of glass.
Across the world as far as one could travel,
Only to have life and soul buried in gravel,
Finally back home at long last,
I remember that day from the sea of glass.
The heart and love were given to another,
Pain and darkness issued forth to smother,
And bury any happiness six feet down beneath the grass,
The tears yet fall in the sea of glass.
The constant plaguing from faceless emotion,
The former knight died from an internal explosion,
His fight and armor put to rest in an eternal cast,
Fading to black within the sea of glass.
The heart and soul always seems to be broken or breaking,
Naught but a shell remains for the end death's taking,
Even though a hero to some there's no salute or a 21 gun blast,
For that never happens in the sea of glass.
Staring into the sea of glass,
Unable to escape the painful past,
For some it may need to be made clearer,
The sea of glass is your very own mirror!!
