The Crush
you tell me that you love me
and then you slip away
from me.
how can you do that,
and so easily?
did i mean nothing to you at all?
how could you just leave me
that way?
my soul completely open
to all you promised to give,
the sunshine in your smile,
the warmth of your hand in mine,
that glance that leaves me swooning
for more as our lips touch
and then you turn away so slowly
and your hand slips through my fingers
all i am left with is the darkness
of your receding shadow
and then you slip away
from me.

It is so hard to understand people... to take them at face value. They turn away and you are left wondering... with no outlet to express your profound confusion and hurt. Your poem does this beautifully. Thank you!
