Life Amongst Mediocrity
The waves of mediocrity are crashing above my head
their malignant power forcing the air from my lungs
and the soul from by body
as I try to escape this sickening onslaught.
Time and time again I thrash to break free
but the waves just keep coming
crushing me with their indomitable pressure
there’s no room to escape and there never will be.
I’m weighed down by forgotten dreams
of somebody else
forever trapped inside that broken television
where the picture fades to a deathly glow.
and I realise now that I’m ten years too late
so sink dejectedly into the abyss.
their malignant power forcing the air from my lungs
and the soul from by body
as I try to escape this sickening onslaught.
Time and time again I thrash to break free
but the waves just keep coming
crushing me with their indomitable pressure
there’s no room to escape and there never will be.
I’m weighed down by forgotten dreams
of somebody else
forever trapped inside that broken television
where the picture fades to a deathly glow.
and I realise now that I’m ten years too late
so sink dejectedly into the abyss.
