Parting Souls

In one swift motion he comes, wielding his sword. And in that moment he slices with such concise sharp accuracy the pain of it doesn't sink in for several moments. I know it happened though, because as I gaze down at myself, I see I am bleeding profusely. I can only look up in shock and disbelief at the realization that I never saw it coming. My heart now pumping so hard in my throat no words can escape it. And I feel myself drowning. It is a pain I cannot even begin to describe. There are no words or tears that can express the deep emotion of what just happened. It just is. And in that moment, it becomes crystal clear that the only words I can say are, "I love you, I love you so much, that I will set you free." Because, that is all I truly have. That is the bright light I hold in my hand that I must let burn for as long as I can, to show you how much you mean to me before it fades away between us. That is all I am allowed. That and no matter what, you will always be part of me. You will always have a special place in my heart...always.
