Next Plane to Knoxville

I look at the monitor
showing the evening’s departures
All flights to Nashville...
Canceled.

Six months of planning
down the pipes
Four o’clock in the afternoon
Next available flight to Nashville
eighteen hours away!

I check the other airlines
I disregard my anti-United policy
and book with them.
Four hours to go
I can live with that.

An hour later...
Canceled.
Weather in Nashville
being uncooperative.

Back to American Airlines
I ask God for mercy
I ask for wisdom
I ask for a solution

I approach a man named William
at American Airlines
a professional looking man
I explain the importance
the urgency
my love
my determination.

Then it hits me
God has granted me the wisdom
I inquire about Knoxville
Just get me to Tennessee!
I’ll figure out the rest from there
William can get me to Knoxville!

I thank God for the wisdom
which he’s granted at that moment
His willingness to bring us together
His desire to give us the time we need
to fall deeper in love
and allow our souls to entwine
more so than they already have.

I book
the next plane to Knoxville.


Three days later...
I sit at my laptop
pecking away at these keys
whilst my precious Brandy
lies in bed asleep
her perfectly molded body
comfortably exposed
and relaxed
with the most beautiful
peaceful
content
look on her face

I haven’t felt this kind of warmth
in my heart
in many o’ years
I have no desire to return home
but I must.

I now pray that the next time that
I return home from this spiritual state
that I return home with her
only to return to Tennessee
for the occasional visit
which shall begin on
the next plane to Knoxville.
