Three colors in her hair
DISCLAIMER: The issue of this poem is about that rape over there in India that made the news. She was dressed in white, and her hair was dyed in three colors, and she was escorted by her boyfriend. My condolences to those who were hurt.
...A YOUNG LADY WHO WORE THREE COLORS IN HER HAIR...
the men who took the time to teach her a lesson.
That a woman should not be gay and fair
Strolling in the night with three colors in her hair.
the men who made the extra effort to rape her
to teach her a lesson that went out on a limb
to tear her insides apart with an iron rod
to enforce the unwritten code of social order
that young women, dressed gay and fair,
out on the town wearing three colors in their hair
should be soundly and roundly punished,
by the men who took the time out of their busy lives
to rape her and mutilate her
by the passers-bys in the street
offered not a finger
after an hour of pleading
by the policemen, who stood over her for
fourty five minutes
taking their sweet time deciding what to do
with her
with this woman who dared wear a white dress
and three colors in her hair
in the night air
with her escort fair
..Yes so you can probably see that my outrage was not just at the perpetrators, but the social order over there, where the poor girl was ignored by the masses, and even the cops.
