City Lights
I look at the earth bellow, and declared it mine.
I scooped up the multicolored lights, man’s design.
I sat and strung them on a rigid string,
Hung it around my neck, wearing a few as a ring.
Times grew old, trends came to an end.
Older, sipping tea with a conceited friend.
Speaking of her crystals and diamonds.
How they all cost her thousands.
I smiled, because I went above the clouds and kites
And reached bellow and stole the city lights.
I take them out when I cry, ears full of lies
To have the orange, gold, and silver dance in my eyes.
We all have the moments of feeling hopeless,
But maybe we’re just not seeing the beauty that surrounds us.
