The Lady Blue 2
This is an excerpt from my novella "The Lady Blue"
I went back to singing soon after Monique was born. The club was doing the best it had ever done and Gary decided to use some of the money to hire a full staff of servants. I ended up not having to do anything but enjoy the time I spent with our daughter and of course, sing nights at the Lady Blue. Things would have been near perfect had it not been for the continuing dreams.
"I'm going to see Madam Levere in the morning."
"Why waste the time? She's worthless.
She's the best medium I know, I shot back, staring straight at Gary, then added, "Maybe she can help us."
"No good can come of going there.
I want to know if she sees what I see.
I believe that you believe you know things other people don't know.
I was supposed to be on 'The Lllian' the day ma and pa died. I dreamed about the accident and begged them not to go out on the boat that day. They wouldn't listen'.
I just don't think Madam Levere is the answer to our problems.
Fine!. I'll just wait until Monique is gone and then say I told you so. Is that what you want'
I pray for her safety everyday just as I pray for yours and mine. Where is your trust?
Damn it, Gary. Something is going to happen to that child! Somehow, I just know it.'
