A Moments Potential / The Drop of A Hat
As it falls....
Trumpets blare
Sunshine glares
A Beautiful banner flares
And on it there's a picture of her with the word 'Beware!'
I fell in love at the drop of a hat
As I always do
And you'll probably laugh
But you weren't there!
You never saw how slowly she moved
Every tiny movement bursting with grace
From the way she bent her leg to the nuances of emotion in her face
The way she reached out to retrieve her hat
But ended up chasing a cold breath of wind
That same breath brought her hat and heart almost to me
It played with her hair the way I wished I could
And lifted her cautious, gorgeous, sweetly dripping maple syrup eyes to mine
As tears brought on by the cold fell from her eyes, along with my jaw to the ground
The weight of them seemed to shake me to my core, it rattled me enough to turn my adoring eyes inwards and leave the world suddenly a darker place
Never again!
I won't let single precious priceless diamond tear fall from those innocent eyes while I still live!
I'll be her friendly neighbourhood
Peter... Parker, pan or Patel,
the name doesn't really matter
What matters is the power that I hold
The power to bring laughter, warmth and prevent any future earthquake tears
But only if I let myself
Only if I pick up her hat and hand it back with a charming smile and heart opening 'Hi'.....
But for all of my amazing abilities, the power of stopping time or the fall of my foot doesn't seem to be among them
So I step on your hat and the single piece of your heart that fell when you looked at me
And am left to watch the cautiousness in your eyes fade to the blackest beginnings of hurt and their dripping maple syrup sweetness turn to poison
For all my super strength and speed, that's one more heart I'll never again be near
So I'll just walk away hoping for another hat to fall
So when it's beautiful owner bends down to pick it up
I can look at her ass, then right through her eyes
And give her my all
