The Dripping Clock

On dark nights laid when sleep eludes
When image fades and fear exudes
As drenched in failures sweat you lie
From broken dreams, you wish to die
A mind in turmoil, clinging fast
Stark realisation, love has passed
This lonely pennance for past crimes
Through many years, no happy times
Your fate is sealed to walk alone
A figure lonely on it's throne
With one quick slash the deed is done
Lay back, await the blood to run
This pounding drip upon the floor
As light begins to fade once more
It ticks away, this dripping clock
A distant voice calls to the flock
So on you go with final breath
With freedom won you have your death
