The Wolf

I am a wolf , majestic and proud the Alpha of my pack
Black is my fur eyes an amber hue I am loved and hated
Hated for killing rancher’s cattle but, I don’t have a choice
you see my habitat is slowly being destroyed
what else am I to do….let my family starve
They finally made it illegal to hunt and kill me
My numbers are dwindling, so precious few left of us
In some aspects I am not so different from humans
I find my soul mate and stay with her forever
A litter she dose bare me and all I want is for them
to be safe and happy and grow, to never go hungry
I also have to bare the burden of having to keep
my whole pack safe and look out for their well being
For I am the leader of the pack
Often my heart breaks when it dose you will know it
Listen for my howls under the silvery moon
Loved for my beauty and grace nothing quite compares
I  carry a long legend  with many a people
And with others I am inked in their skin I leave a permanent imprint
I have been depicted a monster in both modern and old lore
I would never eat a Grandmother or trick a small child
So please take time to understand me
Do not fear me I am not a hunter of human flesh
But will defend myself when backed into a corner
I just wish to live in peace and harmony with thee
for all generations to come both mine and yours
